How do you think this meeting will go? The media is blowing it up yugely and it is an important meeting, but chances are it will just fizzle. If Trump does try to be tough I think Putin will eat his lunch. Putin is ex-KGB, a very experienced world leader, cold-hearted, etc etc. I dont think Trump can totally win this battle, but a "win" to me would be at least calling out Putin on the elections / Syria, and also coming to some plan for North Korea. If Trump can do those 3 things w/ out looking like a total fool then it is a step in the right direction.

I'd be surprised if he calls out Putin on the elections. I'm sure Putin could call us out on some of our cyber activities. On top of that, it's public information that Obama sent US taxpayer money to an anti-Netanyahu group during the Israeli elections. Putin would play up the hypocrite angle big time. Anyway, all this fresh outrage about Russia spying on us is naive.

IF Russia did anything in our election I think it was just a matter of doing it to see if they could. It seems to me that a Hildebeast Presidency would be better for Russia. I can't think of a rational reason why the Rooskies would prefer Trump.

I've been saying the same thing. Makes no sense. Putin had his way with us since the Hillary reset button under Obama.

I hope he turns to Putin and the conversation goes like this: Trump: Aye comrade, you know that piece of **** Tibs, from Steeler Nation, who keeps harping on about the investigation? Putin: Да, трахнем этого парня.. Trump: Let's settle this once and for all for warped minds like his... Did you and I collude to influence the election in any way? Putin: Nyet. Trump: Well, there you have it. now end this waste of time and taxpayer money. Hey Vladdy, baby, want to team up and take out China? Putin: Hell da!!!

Wonder if Trump is going to try that hard handshake thing with Putin.

Trump, with Putin, predicts 'positive things' for US, Russia

HAMBURG, Germany (AP) — With broad grins and a warm handshake, President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin warmed up for their historic encounter on Friday.

Ahead of a formal, sit-down meeting, Trump and Putin were seen exchanging pleasantries as a leaders' retreat got under way in Hamburg. As officials gathered around a table, Trump outstretched his hand to Putin and then patted his elbow and both men smiled. A brief video clip shows Trump casually patting Putin on the back as they stand side by side.

Trump says 'everyone' in Germany talking about Podesta, DNC server

"Everyone here is talking about why John Podesta refused to give the DNC server to the FBI and the CIA. Disgraceful!"

Last I saw, the "news" said they were still meeting after 90 minutes. That's a long time for Trump to meet with someone. We'll see what they make up about it. The loony left is already calling his handshake an obvious bowing down to Putin and his speech yesterday was racist.

We should have let them borrow our anti-riot truck.

US, Russia Reach Agreement For Ceasefire In Southwest Syria

HAMBURG, Germany (AP) — U.S. officials say the United States and Russia have reached an agreement for a cease-fire in southwest Syria.

The cease-fire is set to take effect July 9 at noon Damascus time. Word of the cease-fire has emerged as President Donald Trump is meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The officials weren’t authorized to discuss the cease-fire publicly and spoke on condition of anonymity. The deal marks a new level of involvement for the U.S. in trying to resolve Syria’s civil war.

Step in the right direction...

Hope it holds...

De Blasio can't resist the siren call of leftist protests in Germany

Like lemmings marching over a cliff, leftists from all over the world are descending on Berlin to take part in left-wing protests at the G-20 summit.

One of those leftists is New York mayor Bill de Blasio, who skipped a swearing in ceremony for new police officers – in the wake of the assassination of a policewoman last week – to jet off to Berlin to participate in the demonstrations.

because we still hold Dan Rather in such high regard...

The first thing President Trump did when meeting Russia’s Putin in a social gathering in Germany today was shake his hand warmly, then pat him fondly on the back. There it was and remains for the world to see.

All indications are that Putin helped orchestrate an attack on the sovereignty of the United States during the last U.S. election and has made similar moves in other Western counties, seeking to undermine confidence and stability in democratic institutions and ideals. Now he gets a pat on the back from the leader of the free world.

It was a disturbing if not sickening display. But it is theatrics for now. The real showdown comes when the two meet and talk formally.
Putin is widely known to respect strength and he has a nostril for weakness. He is an experienced and shrewd operator, while Mr. Trump has proven to be a bumbling novice who seeks affirmation. It is a recipe for disaster.

For all the damage Mr. Trump and his policies can do domestically, what is happening on the world stage - from dangerous posturing on North Korea, to risking a trade war with Europe, to pulling out of the climate pact - is truly frightening. The number one job of the President of the United States is to protect the safety and security of the nation. Mr. Trump is in far over his head, and the most dangerous thing is he doesn't know it and his enablers who should know better don't seem to care.

No one is arguing that seeking peace and lowering tensions with Russia isn’t necessary. But demonstrating strength and resolve, in ways small and large, is an imperative in trying to reach those ends. That and making it abundantly clear that mucking around in American elections will not be tolerated.

A pat on the back is not an encouraging way to start.

Too bad that Mr. Rather didn't utter the following sentence during the prior 8 years

Mr. Obama is in far over his head, and the most dangerous thing is he doesn't know it and his enablers who should know better don't seem to care.

If he and his ilk had been actual journalists over the last 8 years, Trump wouldn't be president.

That old senile **** is one of the founders of Fake News. His opinion isn't worth a squirt of piss. Trump and Putin had to be laughing their ***** off in that meeting about the fake collusion story.

Melania was sent in to Trump-Putin meeting to get them to wrap up, Tillerson says

First lady Melania Trump was sent into President Trump's meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin to try to get the two leaders to wrap it up after their scheduled 30-minute meeting ran for more than an hour, Secretary of State Rex Tillerson said Friday.

"Several times I had to remind the president, people were sticking their heads in the door," Tillerson told reporters after the meeting. "They even sent in the first lady at one point to see if she could get us out of there, and that didn't work either. … We went another hour after she came in to see us, so clearly she failed."

Trump and Putin met officially for the first time Friday on the sides of the G-20 summit in Hamburg, Germany.

The meeting lasted 2 hours and 16 minutes.

so ... we WANT trump to talk to putin and discuss current world crises, but we want it to be minimal so as to keep derision going since the far left hates both trump and putin and doesnt feel comfortable with them talking.

******* crazy.

President Donald Trump opened Friday's two hour and 16 minute meeting with Russia's Vladimir Putin by pressing him about Moscow's attempts to interfere in the 2016 election, Secretary of State Rex Tillerson said.

The pair spent much of their high-stakes, first bilateral meeting at the G-20 summit in Germany discussing the conflict in Syria and a cease-fire agreement that the countries announced Friday, Tillerson, who sat in on the meeting, said. Trump and Putin also addressed Russia's actions in Ukraine and fighting the terror group ISIS, according to accounts from both countries.

Two out of three.

I think Trump was a better choice for the Russians, since they knew he'd be more receptive as opposed to painting them as villains.
