Quoted from twitter: "Mortensen said there's buzz 49ers are "prepared to make a huge move" in the 1st round of the NFL Draft."

The person quoting it thought Clowney, but the 49ers draft 30th and the 30th pick is worth 620 points. The 1st pick is worth 3000 and the second pick is worth 2600. Even if Clowney slipped to 2nd, you are looking at every pick in this draft plus futures and maybe even players. So, I doubt they are willing to go that high, but one thing that has me thinking, Barr is sliding. Barr plays at UCLA. Homegrown backyard talent that will get people to forget (to an extent) about Aldon Smith. If he slides into the teens, you are looking at the 30th, 56th, and 77th picks. They value out at 1165 and that takes you to around 12th (if you find a partner). It still leaves you with a 2nd and 2-3rd round picks.

So, I think that would be more feasible. Question is, who is willing to go from mid-teens (and leave Barr) to get the extra 2 picks (or maybe even 3).

I would do it in a second. We would get their 1st, one of their second rounders, and a third rounder. We may have to give a 5th back too, but who cares. I have been touting this idea for a while.

1.30 Fuller/Roby/Nix
2.15 WR
Niners second rounder...not sure

I mean , the draft is deep and the possibilities are endless. Maybe we could even get Fuller, Nix, Moncrief...assuming Nix drops.

Word on Detroit radio is that they would trade Suh on draft day in order to move up.

Apparently, there has been some discussion with Atlanta.

We'll see, something tells me this is gonna be a crazy draft.

It would be nice if the guy drops to us and we trade with them, provided that we are not looking at a chance for a great left tackle prospect. In looking at this draft from the talk on here there is no one in the likely scenarios that is a huge up grade at any position other than left tackle prospects that are likely to be there at 15. It just seems that the next few guys in some cases more than a few are about the same as the ones ahead of them differences are not that great. It also looks like a great draft to have xtra picks in the top 3 rounds.

I sure hope if this scenario pops up they do not run to the podium with a draft pick that has a bunch of us screaming WTF.

No thanks. I'd rather stay at #15.

49ers have a bunch of picks. More picks than can make their team. They have 6 picks in the first 3 rounds and 11 total. They would be smart to trade some of those and end up with 5 or 6 higher picks or picks for next year.

They also may be able to trade Aldon Smith. Yeah he has troubles but this draft is thin for pass rushers and if your are the coach who thinks he can get him to behave then you may have a gem. I think Jared Allen had some early alcohol problems and he straightened out.

Marcus Lattimore will be available at RB this year so that means either Kendall Hunter or LaMichael James can be traded since they both serve that fast 3rd down back role.

49ers want to move up to take Watkins according to NFL network.

It would cost them quite a bit to get Sammy Watkins.

I doubt highly that the Niners would pay such a high price to cuckold Aldon Smith, especially since they barely skipped a beat with him out of the lineup when he was injured. If they were, Mack is more likely. Why go that high for a guy that isn't a top 10 lock?

Do you want a list of guys that were not top 10 picks? Troy Polamalu. Ben Roethlisberger. Patrick Willis. There are a host of players that slip out the top 10 that are excellent players. If the 49ers feel that Barr, again, who is a hometown talent, is worthy of making a move, they have way more draft picks than will make their roster, so why not take that top 15 player versus a late 1st, late 2nd, and middle 3rd? Even after the trade, they would still have a 2nd and two thirds, plus a 4th, 5th, and 3 7ths (I believe). If you have a glut of picks, why not try to move up and get a guy you feel would be an impact player.

They are not the Steelers where they need half a roster overturned, they are looking for specific pieces.

And, the 49ers defense did skip a beat. Smith played in 10 games and had 8.5 sacks. Ahmed Brooks played in 15 and tied that number and they were the top 2 sack getters for the 49ers. The backups for those players were Lemoiner, Skuta, and Fleming and they had one sack combined. The two seasons prior, Smith had 19.5 sacks and 14 sacks. I certainly think they missed the extra pressure he put on QBs, even though the rest of the defense played well.

Yeah I'm not seeing it either

Right. I guess my point is that I don't think Barr is worth it. I think the guy is massively overrated. Niners can afford to overpay for him since they're just plugging as you said but I feel they'll regret that instantly.

The only players I would not take the trade down for are:

Mathews
Clowney
Robinson
Mack
Watkins
Evans

If they are all gone, I would be willing to trade back and still pick up a good player and bank some more picks. Dropping to 30 is a big drop though. I'd prefer to drop no more than 10 slots, but if the value is in our favor, 1, 2, 1 or 2-3s, I pull the trigger

I keep hearing about Zack Martin and Lewan rising. What if somehow Matthews fell to us...like DeCastro? I think we need a corner, but I would prob poop myself and take him. If all the main guys are gone, I would trade down with San Fran, or def Miami and let them take Martin ahead of Baltimore...who really wants him. I would happily take an extra third from Miami. If Matthews drops, however, I take him.

Hell, if Barr drops we can trade down with Miami, then again with San Fran if Barr is still there. Roby or Fuller may be there at San Fran's pick.

If the 49ers were smart they'd trade this years first for next years. Someone will be getting excited about a player still available at the end of the first.

.

I would be willing to trade down from #15 to #30...if I received their #61 and #77 picks. Absolutely!

Now, I understand that their 1st round and 2nd round picks are basically an early 2nd and 3rd.. but I would do it.

I would then ALSO be looking for a team that wanted to trade back into the end on round #1 (pick 30)... someone who wants a QB, who wants a 5-year deal instead of the 4-year deal a second round QB gets.

The San Francisco Chronicle reports the 49ers are "very interested" in LSU WR Odell Beckham.

Soo, if not Barr, maybe they would trade for us to get Beckham before the jets do.

Rats are reporting that several teams have inquired about the #17 pick.
