Uncle jarvis returs

Healthy PLAY, unhealthy SIT. He isn't no James Harrison in his prime, but given the time James had, Jarvis could develop. It's Worilds that isn't playing up to date & money value.

Agree on Worilds. I was somewhat on the fence with him but I definitely had some expectation for him to build off his final 8 games and come out the gate strong this season. He has been pretty disappointing to me overall. He has moments where he is a disruptive player but unfortunately he doesn't have enough of them. Not enough to warrant a new contract getting paid close to what they are giving him for the Transition tag anyway. I think they will let him test the free agent market and see what other teams will offer. I don't think they will try to outbid anyone for his services but if he doesn't get a lot of good offers and comes back asking for a contract closer to his value, I could see them bringing him back. In his mind though I think he's convinced some team will pay him handsomely. We'll see. .

And what if over the last 5 games he is like last year? Stepped up game,, sack in each game?

yep.
no big loss if he leaves, but not a big deal if he returns. though he has stated that he is playing more in the middle of the field (like Matthews with GB) and out of position...

step it up big time and help us win #7, then cash in and get your big bucks elsewhere.

That didn't happen last year. He missed the last game with an injury plus he didn't have a sack against the bungles in week 14 nor did he have one against the clowns in week 11. So his last 5 games he had 4 sacks in 5 games but he had 2 in one game.

I would say it wouldn't matter all that much because he would have still showed that he can't maintain a level of consistency throughout a season.

Roll with it.. It was a new scenario.. not stating an old one.

I think they let him walk for big $ elsewhere.

I agree.. but who is replacing him?

We have Moats and Harrison.. Harrrison never played left side as far as I know.. Don't know about moats.. I guess FA or ANOTHER High Lb draft pick,, but I don't think that will happen.
so yeah let him walk then were not much better off.
With the plethora of LB's we have for the inside,,, any chance one of them could make the move to the OUTside? Im thinking vince Williams, or Zumwalt or possible move Timmons? (yes I know Timmons probably wont happen) Im just looking at whats down the road at LOLB.

They should release Moats and Thomas after the season

as I think the D still needs a upgrade.

A corner / DE / OLBer / and FS

Worilds is not playing at a level that makes us think he will be the next great outside linebacker. We were able to find serviceable at a much cheaper level. He is however being paid at that level which is not good. He is playing better than Jones but not a lot and I suspect he is not as good as Harrison at this point in time. I do not know if Harrison has another year in him or not before he looses enough speed to not be able to perform at the needed level. Age and wear and tear will be what finally eliminates James Harrison, and it does not seem that we will find anyone to replace him for a long time.

I don't think another high draft pick on LB. James is doing well, but I don't know if his 36 year old body can keep up for the rest of the season. I couldn't tell if Jarvis really was playing better or not. Regardless, his development is stunted another year and that ain't good.

Could we move Shazier over and keep Spence and Timmons in the middle?

Question: Some have said Shazier is "light in the pants" for playing ILB. If you take that view, wouldn't he be even more so for playing OLB? They need to think about picking up a good FA OLB if there are any available this year (are there?).

Brian Orakpo will be available and probably relatively cheap given his recent struggles

I think James Harrison will finish out this year A-ok. My real QUESTION is what about next year? The question gets put to him, do you really think he is going to say, NO as I wont hold up? He is going to say yes, I'll give you another year. The money / wife says yea, we could use one last pay check. 4 games in, he hit with the "old man injury" bug. I know we can't predict, but I say move ahead as if he isn't going to be here. If, like this year, injury / poor play, then sign him. Screw the tampering bull ****, give him an interim / coaching job, this'll help keep him in shape and ready.

I suspect the reason that no one was signed is the players that were good were already gone, and very expensive, thus Worilds being franchised which is way more than he is worth.
