Versatility

I think versatility leads to mediocrity. We don't need a LT that can also play RT. We don't need a guard who just learned to play center. It only leads to pretty good.
Roster limits mean some guys have to be transcendent, but we go overboard with it

Why don't you scream about this to Matt Canada and his never-ending 12 & 13 personnel groupings.

< p.s. i posted worried about this for the last two (2) seasons in a row, Matt Canada: jack of all plays but master of none. #NoDraftStrategy #NoOffenseIdentity>

I 100% agree, some positions need that specialty guy who just specializes ONLY at that position. Max Starks mad a GREAT living specializing. He may have been able to play other positions but he delivered at the end.

I think that changed after the bye week last year. 147 yards per game on the ground, 4.4 YPC. Add in a dominant interior OL like Beebe or Michael Schmitz and that number goes up.

Also, Kenny is the guy so no futzing around with splitting practice time. Pickens is a legit #1, Freiermuth a solid possession receiver and we'll see what Calvin Austin has to offer.

Versatility is ok if you are either bringing in the right free agents or drafting the right O-Lineman. But if you are drafting low at critical depth positions or bottom feeding in free agency you better pray for no injuries.

And as we have seen that is unrealistic.

Backup T and OLber need to be addressed properly. Resigning Sutton and Edmunds and adding to the corner unit. And upgrading the slot WR.

And addressing DE and ILber

DE
CB
S
ILber

You address in free agency 4 moves not mission difficult.

Then you have

T
WR
OLber

To nail in the draft.

The rest is gravy.

In the past the decision making overall has been mediocre. Hoping some new sheriff's in town can right the ship.

Do you mean Omar and the Philly guy?

Ah. Versatility. Like mac & cheese. You can make it bland, make it spicy, you can add chicken, bacon bits, etc.

However sometimes keeping it simple is just as fulfilling. Did I just compare a pro football lineman to mac & cheese? Yes I did

The problem is i don't think the Steelers will ever commit to consistently running the ball in this new era.

For whatever reason, Canada wants to throw the ball a million times while changing up motion and personnel. I think he's trying to build an "ultimate" offense that can do anything at any time. idk. Seems retarded to me though.

And NOW i'm scared that Pickett is gonna have to retire in his sophomore year after getting concussed 4-5 times in one calendar year. Talk about a ****-job of coaching! Tomlin is ripping the damn team apart by running the legs off Najee and nuking Pickett's head. FFS

From the game before the bye till season end we AVERAGED over 140 yards per game on the ground…

The concussion issue is best prevented with a good OL and solid running game, no? Also, I think it clear by now that 1st and 2nd-round RB last one contract. See Elliott, Kamara, Bell. So get what you can and replace.

no,, i mean versatility like making zucchini noodles and using zuchini for things instead of real pasta or whatever.
Its never as good as it could have been,

That will depend. Italian or hippy?
The italian will choose pasta. The hippy will choose zuchini most likely

I do think that Wiedl will have an impact on personal decisions, I just hope he gets a fair shake against Coach Tomlin decisions. Treated as an equal in the personal decision making and drafting.

I don’t see Kahn being assertive due to lack of talent evaluation experience. CAP management has and is his specialty.

I thin k we can get a VERY good LT with-in our first three picks. Currently I see that as 1 of two top needs on this team.

Don’t feel bad because when JuJu first got here I compared him to my 6 month old kitty, all that young energy they both had….
