Washington Agrees to Contract Extension

Just JPJ and Benton to go. Khan is getting things done early this offseason. Good work!

I heard they were working on both of the contracts. I think both will be locked up IMO this season.

Would be good to see all 4 done.

So are we going to actually use both our TE's consistently as receivers this year? I certainly hope so. Atleast copy the trend of the league and run a lot of two TE's formations. Utilize what we've got.
We did run a lot of 2 TE sets, but the routes they had sucked. Very bad play calling, no use of the middle obviously.

This contract extension suggests that he will be used properly. Let's hope so. But flim flam football is over in Pittsburgh.

Very nice! I’m extremely happy for this young man. I was hoping they would take care of him.
Now let’s get Benton and JPJ and we will have our young guys locked-up.
I don’t usually have much to complement Art II with but he is doing this right.

Does anybody have the cap effects of these extensions yet?

I'm wondering if the JPJ deal also needs some relief from a vet to fit into the cap?

I'm guessing they might have to wiggle some money to and fro.

I hope he spends 6 million on new titanium forearms... no more broken bones, mate!!!
It is about time they solve this bionic issue. They have had the technology since 74. They can rebuild him.

EXACTLY, with an actual bonafide offensive scheme / cordinators / play calling, this offense should look totally different than previous worthless pile of poopoo.

Salute the nation

How's the best blocking TE in the league who also has soft hands in the passing game only potential in your eyes?
Actually both players signed have played well. There is a potential for more but yeah they have shown.

One could argue that Herbig has been their best edge player for a couple years now, but Tomlin/Austin way underutilized him based on the "pedigree, if you will" of the guys in front of him.

Watt is still good obviously, but his quickness isnt quite as cat-like as it once was and will continue to diminish in coming years.

It's a lot of money tied up into one position, but it's a key position, and the finances are not really a big deal with the Steelers currently not paying out a prime franchise QB contract.

The Steelers may very well have three of the top 15-20 edge players in the league over the next couple years.
