It depends on where you had him. I don’t think it does because Penix runs a bit hot and cold. He’ll play about 6 so-so or subpar games a year based on an elite QBs standards.

Michigan’s defense clearly got in his head and he missed at least two TD passes to Odunze because of poor ball placement.

I said weeks ago I would pass on him in the first and I still believe that.

No. Most NFL QB suck under pressure. Penix missed a few throws but was under tons of heat and he stayed poised. He never looked flustered or scared. He made good reads. He looked better against pressure than half the QB in the NFL.
 
The important thing now is that Penn State pulled a pair of former 5 stars from the portal last week. WR Fleming from Ohio State and OT Rucci from Wisconsin. Rucci’s dad played at Penn State. I think he chose Wisconsin originally because his brother was there.

Saw that the Bama DC retired. Here’s a theory. Belichick parts ways with pats. Goes to Bama as DC. It would be like a vacation for him after NFL. Plus he’d probably get to collect from the Pats and get paid by Bama. Saban loves bringing in big name assistants. BB could hang out at Bama for a bit. Wait for the right NFL job then go back to NFL to beat Shula for all time wins.

I think this draft class will have at least 4 QBs taken in the 1st round and I think Michael Penix Jr will be one of them. Will he drop in that group because of last night's game outcome, I doubt it will have little to no affect. Last nights game was not his best. He missed some throws as others have pointed out. Although there were also several drops by the WRs. Michigan jumped on them early with a proficient running attack. Washington made adjustments and they remained in the game until what transpired late in the 4th to put the game out of reach. Penix had his leg rolled up on and took some pretty good shots yet he stayed on the field. He was under pressure more often than last week and was being hit during the release of the 2 throws that became INTs. I would also give credit to the Michigan DEF for some incredible open field tackles on WR and TEs that would likely have lead to more YAC yards resulting in more 1st downs.

Penix scans the field........ makes good decisions where to go with the ball and moves well within the pocket avoiding pressure and gets the ball out... He has some mobility and decent size measures to go to the next level.
He did not have a great game last night ......but he was also competing against the number 1 seed so let's give Michigan a little credit for playing a good game

He would be an upgrade on KP .......IMO and if he is there for us to draft it should be a difficult decision to choose otherwise depending who is still on the board

He had his best season in 2022 with 34 catches for 533 yards and 6 TDS. He’s a nice add, but Penn State needs more, much more, at the WR position. When Liam Clifford is your WR2 you’re not deep at the position.

Rumor is, Penn State is pursuing Shazz Preston from Alabama. Don’t know much about him, but he can’t be worse than Liam Clifford.
 
Right now Penn State just needs competent at WR. Fleming may not be a game breaker but he’s good. He’s reliable and he’s a physical blocker. Start with 1 go to reliable target and then maybe some of the young guys can develop. Liam Clifford is a pretty good slot WR but if he’s your #1 guy, you’re in trouble.

I know PSU is going after CB in the portal. They may be able to pull another WR. They are an attractive landing spot. You have a 5 star passer, a new OC that has a scheme players love, and you have a wide open depth chart where you can likely start day 1.

Ohio State got Kansas State QB Will Howard, a dual threat QB. Also got the Ole Miss RB Judkins. Ryan Day feeling some heat now.
 
I would love us to grab Edwards and use him in a Randle EL type role a true gadget guy WR/Trick play specialist, use for 2-4 pitches run plays a game, we know he has the home run speed, if we can get an oc with an nfl modern brain put Austin and Edwards opposite side in the slot and get both to run deep crossers which gets better separation tell Kenny throw in stride will be chunk yards every time.

I always used to greet opposing players after a hard fought battle in any sport I played .... good to see the Michigan player approaching him in your video
