Are you saying that he isn't really hurt? If this is just a ruse to get an extra player in for a look, why wouldn't they do this with a second stringer? Keeping one of our star players out of practice doesn't seem smart.

Not at all. It was a concern last TC, and they don't want to repeat the same lingering issue. My point is the PUP can only be used BEFORE the start of camp. Now it is off the table as a tool to protect the player and allow another to play.

And I personally wouldn't use your tactic on a 2nd stringer, because they have to beat out the guys trying to take their jobs. Best to use on an established starter, but there is no way the Steelers would do that intentionally. Heck, they turn themselves in when they think they made an accounting error. Character is too high for that PAts bullshit.
