But as I recall I believe Mendenhall was the number one RB coming out of college that year. I think people like with D. Bush were mostly happy with the pick at the time. Hard to understand why it didn't. In hindsight you should be easily be able to see that D. Bush is too small. Mendenhall had all the tools.Mike Tomlin is a reader of people and helps mentor youth. It probably wasn't what was said my Johnson, it was probably more on how Johnson said it that turned off Tomlin to immediately end a conversation. There were character issues with Johnson going into the draft, and he was unwilling to give the Steelers a chance to look him over directly since they were considering drafting a RB early.
Still would have loved to have him over Mendy.
