We will not live in our fears. Just in our stupidity.

President Lincoln was being badgered by some on his cabinet to replace McClellan as General. One of them said that "anybody would be better than McClellan." That is remarkably what it seems like on here about Tomlin.

Lincoln responded by saying, "For you anybody will do, but I have to have somebody." That is my feeling. I am all for replacing Tomlin. I am sick of the guy. But dammit, I want someone appreciably better, not just anybody. And I am telling you, if you look around the NFL, outside of the guy in NE, I won't say the ****'s name, there is no one appreciably better.

You know what nothing has changed. This guy does nothing well. He just is not a good head coach and will never ever sniff another SB. Tomlin is a joke.

You really don't want to go there. You are aware that McCellan was removed by Lincoln in 1862. McCellan often said he was outnumbered but in reality he was the one who had the most troops. He also ran against Lincoln in 1864.

So I have no idea why you used him because he is a perfect example of needing a change at the top. Which is why he was fired.

Tomlin was a nobody when he was hired. Before they talked with him nobody on this board knew him. So finding a 1 year DC who specializes in DBs with the worst pass defense in the league his one year shouldn't be that difficult to find.

You and I both know there's no chance of that happening. So thanks for wasting everyone's time, you miserable ****!

Tomlin doesn't live in his fears, he just moves in with them from September till January.

There is no chance of 90% of the things happening that has been talked about on here. So ******* what?

As long as they are also 1st in run defense being one of only two teams to ever give up less than a thousand yards(985) rushing for the year. Also finish 8th overall. But I understand how those stats don't help your argument.

He wasn't a DL coach was he? Nope. But that doesn't fit your argument does it? He was a DB coach. The reason teams didn't run against them is because they were so bad against the pass.. horrible actually. Also they were #1 in rushing attempts which means nobody tried. You could pass at will against them. Which is why they were 32nd in passing attempts. The "team" was also 6-10 so it isn't as if they were a great defense or a great team.

They also weren't 8th overall. More bullshit. They were 14th.

Tomlin was selected by Vikings' head coach Brad Childress to be his defensive coordinator in 2006.[2][3]

Two of the players on the Vikings were older than Tomlin, and Tomlin had been a teammate of Vikings' safety Darren Sharper at William and Mary. The 2006 Vikings finished with the NFL's eighth-best overall defense, but had the unusual distinction of finishing as the top-ranked defense against the run,[4] and the worst-ranked defense against the pass.[5]

My bad. They were 14th in points. I read the chart wrong. Still they were horrible against the pass.

Right now the Jets have the best running defense and are 12th against the pass. So just think how great Kacy Rogers would be as a coach. And he was a DL coach.

These plays were as huge as any other and any decisions.

For the love of God, Vader. McClellan wasn't the point, what LINCOLN said was the point. I think too many anti-Tomlin people just want him replaced, regardless of what may replace him. I am perfectly fine with him being replaced, but dammit, I want someone better. And truth be told, when I watch these games, I just do not see any other coach outside of the guy in NE who is appreciably better. See, I don't want him replaced with a guy who has issues, but just ones that are different than Tomlin's, but every bit as aggravating. And that is what I see throughout the league.

And you may have a point about McClellan as it relates to Tomlin. Two guys who seemed/seem to do things well organizationally, but when it comes time to use it, fall short.

You're right about McClellan and Tomlin. To me both fall short. Also you'll never find anybody better as long as he is here right? Nobody knows for sure if the next guy will be better. They didn't know it about Tomlin how could they possible know it about anyone else? Sometimes the team just needs a change in philosophy. The problem is nobody really knows Tomlin's philosophy. I guess it's the Tampa 2 defense? I know most things that he is personally responsible for doesn't work too well. Clock management, TOs, ETC..

I do know that he's had a HOF QB his entire tenure and has missed the playoffs more with Ben than Cowher missed without him. They'll probably make the playoffs this year but I don't see a long run coming. The defense just isn't that good and the offense is sporadic even with Ben.

I guess the question is is it worth the risk? If you are not sure a guy is appreciably better, why take it? Guy could turn out to be worse. Tomlin does do some things well, and he never seems to lose a team. However, that could be more a function of the organization. Players know the Steelers don't fire head coaches. No place for them to go above the coaches head to bellyache and undermine.

Look, I'm fine with replacing him. I really am. Not as vehemently as some, maybe. I just look at these new hires every year. These are organizations that one would think are doing their homework. And nobody really just jumps off the page. I thought maybe the guys coming out of Seattle may be those kind of guys. Blah.

You will never know if anyone is better as long as he is here sounds like a Browns philosophy. Just keep changing till you get it right. I'm jut glad we have the ownership we do-works for me and has since 1969.

The guy who cheats every chance he gets? The guy who would taint our organization completely beyond repair. Never! Not if he'd coach for ******* FREE! Not if he'd PAY Rooney! Not if he'd bring a franchise DB, RB, DE AND LB with him.

I wouldn't want that ************ to retire in the ******* state. Somehow his evil stench would permeate the pee-wee league and **** up future generations of players. That ******* guy shouldn't be allowed near coastal waters as he'll kill the ******* aquatic life. He'll **** up the ecosystem. I would say I wish he'd die but I know that ******* will cheat death. No ******* WAY do I ever want that ******* ever associated with the Steelers.

Jeez, wig. Go get a beer and rub one off or something. Relax. Nowhere did I ever say he should be coaching the Steelers nor would I want him too. My only point is he seems to b e the only guy consistently better than other coaches. Whether that be by cheating or not I will let you decide.

He certainly looked more human yesterday, though.

Sorry. I have issues.

Oh bullshit. Staying with someone that has never proven he can build a team sounds like the bungles. He may get you to the playoffs but hasn't proven he can build a team to win it all. Tomlin is that guy. Now that it is his show the defense is up and down like a roller coaster and the offense is exactly the same. They match their HC to a T.
