Week 13 Buffalo at Steelers gameday thread

Again more bullshit. Lots of coaches come in without huge resumes. He came in and won immediately. He proved he belonged, immediately. He has simply overstayed. Your narrative is total BS. He was well respected if young. Cowher didn’t have a ton of experience either. He will go into the hall of Fame one day.

I would rather watch the Steelers lose than forced to be a Browns fan or just about any other franchise. Yeah we need to make a change but come on, we have seen far more good than bad in our lives.
I really agree with this. Like let's get real. The guy is going to the HOF no matter what anyone thinks. And hell whatever you think he's a Pittsburgh Steeler. The problem is he doesn't have the Acumen to take over stuff himself even defense and he just doesn't land high quality assistants and coordinators. So he kinda hides behind unspectacular help. And I dont think anyone is coming here to be a part of this mess. He needs to step down. But he undeniably has been successful and is going to the HOF. They don't look at reasons for success over 20 years. I'm sure plenty will have lots to say about this post. Reasons why he has succeeded. But the HOF ain't looking at that. He's in.

He is looking rough. He might decide to hang up the whistle. Despite what many think he wants to win. He just has gotten stale. He has forgotten how to be truly aggressive.
What is that exactly?

I'm putting down plank laminate in a couple of rooms, it was more entertaining.
TBH I dozed off and missed the last three minutes of the game.
I only had one beer so it must have been the quality of football I was watching.

Except that he's the one who interviews and hires the unspectacular help.
I've been in management a long time for different companies and I know his type. It's common. He's insecure and doesn't want to hire anyone who is smarter than him or who might challenge his decisions. That's why almost every assistant he's hired over the last 18 years was either a buddy or someone he worked with before.
Todd Haley was hired by Dan Rooney.
His last couple OC's were buddies and were so bad that he HAD to look outside the box and hire Art Smith.
He hired Flores to do a friend a solid (Flores did get screwed by the Fins), the smart move would have been to make him DC but he would have wanted to do things his way and might be smarter than Shades. Last I looked, the Vikings' defense was pretty good.
No potential GOOD DC would want the job because it's widely known that Shades runs the D so all you're going to get is borderline qualified second bananas like Austin.

The opposite of what we have seen in about 6 maybe 7 years. Too much conservative (in a bad way) BS. It worked better when the defense was younger and we had DJ getting open before he flamed out and at least some mobility at QB to run for a first. Rodgers doesn’t have receivers who know where he wants them to be and his legs can’t buy what they used to. I think better receiver play and better route trees would help him immensely but sadly scheme combined with father time is conspiring against him. If he couldn’t take snap under center he shouldn’t have been playing.

I agree with this and will add, what incentive is there for a young innovative mind to join this staff. What is your chance at upward mobility. None. It's about a dead end as you can get.
