--------------------purchased for bird feeder in 2023.
BACK STORY: About 10 years ago, I built this big birdfeeder, designed to hold large capacity so as not to have to fill all the time. It holds about 120 lbs black oiled sunflower seeds. You'd think that's a lot but, over the year it varies on migration and weather as to how often it needs filled.
UPDATE: 2023 started out as a very very cold winter and hung around a little to long. The spring was a very wet, low hanging clouds type spring. Summer HOT *** hella, but lotSA flowers etc. from the wet spring. Fall about normal then back to the beginning of a mild winter. All of that has bearing on bird food need.
AFTER ALL SAID AND DONE, I purchased a total of 27 bags ranging from $16.99 - $24.99 per bag. (mostly the $16.99 as I caught on sale). I only filled 25 3/4 bags into feeder. I get everything bird-wise at my feeder. It is mounted about 6ft off ground and I have smooth stove pipe around the tree trunk to keep racoons from being able to climb. Yes, squirrels dig and waste over to spill out, but that combined spillage is what brings in all kinds of land animals, causing my bird feeder to be a circle of life.
