Week 18 Caged Deathmatch Steelers Vs Ravens gameday thread

Collinsworth "all those deep shots, I've never seen anything like that in this rivalry"

Ben Roethlisber says "you sure about that?" 6 TD passes, the 40 yard bomb to Brown on 3-18, the 70 yarder to Holmes to win the game...fricking idiot

Off a game some will say they should have won?

I will enjoy the win but I am not sure that win sends anyone packing.

Me either, Tomlin his here for ‘26, possible pick up of ‘27 option.

There have been over 60,000 field-goal attempts in NFL history. Loop’s miss on Sunday night is the only one of those attempts that came as time expired in the fourth quarter in the final week with both teams’ playoff hopes resting solely on the result of his kick, according to OptaStats.

I have a very hard time believing that. Possible I guess but it doesn't seem correct.

I mean honestly, how many times have teams faced each other where both teams were fighting for the sane playoff spot in that scenario...? It cant be very many

I mean think about it that 60,000 field goal number is a misdirect
Assuming the average NFL season had 16 weeks in it and there are about the same amount of field goals a week, then youd only have about 3700-3800 or so field goals in the final week of the season...

Then you figure there might one of these win and in situation in that last week what, maybe once in five years? We know that before 66 they had at least 9 bonus win and in games before the playoffs existed, which probably counts, and playoffs started in 33

So we are talking about less than 30 games..

Then of those games, probably less than a third would be decided by a last second field goal.. maybe less than that.. but i guess saying the ten or so times in nfl history a field goal to decide a playoff spot, Sunday night was the first time one was missed...
