Welcome Home JPJ

I’m kind of ok with the pick. Not overly excited but at least we didn’t draft him with our first round pick.
Smells like a Tomlin pick!

Perfectly said. I hope for the best

Steelers brass have to be super excited and probably never expected this. I'm sure they had other players in play but for months I'm guessing their thinking was getting a Jones or Porter. They got both and didn't have to trade up again to do it. Hopefully, both pan out and are fixtures for years. Hard to pass up more picks, but picking a player most experts had getting drafted in the middle of the first round, that also was arguably the teams biggest need, is pretty sweet.

I said early in the draft PJr was the kind of corner that used to attract them solid run defender, man coverage capable. Apparently still their type.

In that role he should be fine.

Definately a Tomlin pick, hell Perez’s Sr. Is there and if anyone here doesn’t think their friendship had any influence….. are crazy.

NOW that Jr. is a STEELERS player, I’m totally in support of him doing what he needs to do…… that’s separate himself from his Dad’s reputation, by being his own man.

Here is to many pro-bowls and NOT getting shot in the BUTT.

Salute the nation

Peezy Jr looks aggressive as f***. Very, very handsy.

The tape on Peezy Jr looks like he could be at the highest potential an Ike Taylor-like absolute shutdown corner. He'd need two things in his game: 1. be able to time the ball entry/ lookback on the deep routes and 2. become adept at walking the contact/handsy line in the NFL.

If he was drafted by the Patriots, i'd say 2. wouldnt ever be a problem because somehow the Patriots are allowed to cheat and the refs never call PI on them. This being Pitt, i think PJ here needs to figure out how to be more prepared on how to lock on/in with the off-man coverage and still get in the hip of the WR. He's flat-footed alot in those situations, figuring he can take advantage b/c the WR is gonna help make contact in order to push-off.

total value pick as i see the Steelers able to throw him in by week 2 into the slot on the dime defense where the second/third safety can help him over the top. PJ can then work on his technique without having to jam and grab his guy worrying about being burnt long.

Very nice instant upgrade to the D in that role as PJ has some immense closing speed.

Already noted to be fair that his handsy issues greatly improved his last season. I like where he was drafted as if he turns out to be just a solid number 2 corner that would be more acceptable being picked at the top of round 2 compared to pick 17. If he develops into a solid number 1 corner then that would be a major coup..

I think Porter has the upside of what we've seen from Diontae Johnson on offense. He'll be excellent in certain areas, but not have the all-around game. Even with the faults, can eventually become, at worst, a top 20-25 CB.

i think he could become the best corner in the league hands-down. kid has instincts.

Will the coaching staff scare him off by sitting him/ coaching him to reposition just to make a safe tackle? or will the coaching staff simply tweek his contact technique?
That is what will determine whether Peezy2 is gonna be an All-Pro or not.

Press Conference Joey........He looks thrilled to be here. Can’t keep the smile off. Welcome Joey.

Kind of cool story....I am sure their are some people that work at the Steeler offices and practice facility remember him as a little boy...now he is part of their work family..
