with #32 they take JPJ
Perfectly said. I hope for the bestI’m kind of ok with the pick. Not overly excited but at least we didn’t draft him with our first round pick.
Smells like a Tomlin pick!
I said early in the draft PJr was the kind of corner that used to attract them solid run defender, man coverage capable. Apparently still their type.I’m kind of ok with the pick. Not overly excited but at least we didn’t draft him with our first round pick.

Already noted to be fair that his handsy issues greatly improved his last season. I like where he was drafted as if he turns out to be just a solid number 2 corner that would be more acceptable being picked at the top of round 2 compared to pick 17. If he develops into a solid number 1 corner then that would be a major coup..Peezy Jr looks aggressive as f***. Very, very handsy.
The tape on Peezy Jr looks like he could be at the highest potential an Ike Taylor-like absolute shutdown corner. He'd need two things in his game: 1. be able to time the ball entry/ lookback on the deep routes and 2. become adept at walking the contact/handsy line in the NFL.
If he was drafted by the Patriots, i'd say 2. wouldnt ever be a problem because somehow the Patriots are allowed to cheat and the refs never call PI on them. This being Pitt, i think PJ here needs to figure out how to be more prepared on how to lock on/in with the off-man coverage and still get in the hip of the WR. He's flat-footed alot in those situations, figuring he can take advantage b/c the WR is gonna help make contact in order to push-off.
total value pick as i see the Steelers able to throw him in by week 2 into the slot on the dime defense where the second/third safety can help him over the top. PJ can then work on his technique without having to jam and grab his guy worrying about being burnt long.
Very nice instant upgrade to the D in that role as PJ has some immense closing speed.
I think Porter has the upside of what we've seen from Diontae Johnson on offense. He'll be excellent in certain areas, but not have the all-around game. Even with the faults, can eventually become, at worst, a top 20-25 CB.Already noted to be fair that his handsy issues greatly improved his last season. i think he could become the best corner in the league hands-down. kid has instincts.I think Porter has the upside of what we've seen from Diontae Johnson on offense.
