Talent trumps need. This is the type of pick that can have the Steelers as a serious contender in the next couple of years as opposed to a DL destined to be no higher than a backup rotational player. This team was devoid of talent at a lot of positions and Khan/Weidl have just crushed these last two drafts. Give me high upside players every time in the middle rounds, even if it comes with a risk.

They have have Queen then ER that isn’t really suited for coverage. And Holcomb who we have no idea when he will be available. I would say Ilber was a real enough need .

First round talent with injury concerns is a fine gamble with a comp 3rd rounder...

My only concern is at CB... particularly slot cb

There are several SCB that are still available, and we have pick 19 to grab DJ James, Kris Abram-Draines or Josh Newton. We could also trade up for TJ Tampa (although Corey Trice may be a better player which we already have) or even another WR (Tez Walker would be fabulous as he has speed 4th - fastest time at the combine and finds ways to get open outside the numbers and in zone coverage). Khristan Boyd is a DL they like a lot. He should be available in the 6th.
