What a ****** ending

He never goes to the games. I’m surprised he made it to Ben’s final home game. Credit to him, I know he’s busy not running an organization properly.
He has billionaire problems to worry about. Probably wondering which gray poupon taste better on his subway sponsored sandwich

Can still sell the nostalgia of the 1970s Steel Curtain - Check
Can appeal to the liberal, woke mob by touting our Rooney Rule - Check
Can offer merchandize in a slightly darker shade of yellow that says "Yinzers" - Check

The NFL continues to schedule games at his nap time and after his bed time so there's that.

The way I see it, Ben went out throwing to a TE who fought with every ounce of himself to drive to the goal-line.

Ben went out trying for one last TD.
Weird.

What I saw was a perfect microcosm of the 2021 season: Four or five Chiefs ready to hammer the receiver down well short of the goal line, after Ben threw him a pass only four yards past the line of scrimmage. With absolutely zero chance of scoring that TD.

2021 is in the rearview. Onto 2022. Screw the record. The team will find post Ben success. It will be ugly, but they will find it

The team will only find post-Ben success post-Tomlin. And God knows when that'll be.

Seems the media holds Tomlin accountable. Will the fans themselves show displeasure by impacting ticket and merch sales. Coming from a fan who follows more casually than hardcore I feel Rooney is content with the brand. The nfl is a corporation where the teams are no longer defined by wins and losses but the actual logo now.

So…some markets adapt, some don’t. Funny how Kansas city wins a super bowl after the rams bolt to LA. $$$$$.

I’d very much like to understand the marketing ideas behind the league. They are america’s go to for a reason.

I don’t know if it plays a role in Tomlin’s retention but I’d have to assume as long as the tickets and merchandise sale. You won’t see too much change

The fans won't stop going to games or buying on a scale large enough to turn their heads. I think Rooney is content with his wallet. Not really sure at this point what will bring about the necessary changes as long as he steers the ship.

Guess we’ll have to see if fans become irate with the on field product to the point they stop showing up and buying merch
