It's very frustrating not only because this is a continuation of the same **** we've been seeing over the past few years, but also because there's virtually no reason for hope or optimism that things will change anytime soon.

They've just become the epitome of mediocrity, with no apparent light at the end of the tunnel.

There needs to be significant changes, as the player evaluation/development, outside of the offensive skills positions, has become a joke. The defense in particular is an embarrassment. Things have gotten so bad there, they're paying a CB 5mil to ride the bench and had to resurrect the likes of Harrison and Keisel from the grave just to field a defense.

Whether it is Tomlin, Colbert or both, at LEAST one of them needs to pay the price for this.

I cannot help but harbor this overwhelming "sinking in quicksand" feeling, as if ownership could give Tombert 2, 3, even 4 more years and things will not improve, but likely get worse.

The prospects of improvement under current management and leadership just seems painfully remote to me.

ArtII must make a bold move or two to turn the tide, IMO,

If you fire Colbert any decent gm will want his own coach. So you fire both or continue the mediocrity

Any team that even begins to take the Steelers seriously isn't going to have too much trouble with them.

That's just the way it is unfortunately. Soon as said team figures they've got it in the bag and lets their foot off the gas, THEN the Steelers manage to score some points. See the 4th quarter today. Otherwise, game-plan for Pittsburgh and any professional team can handle them with relative ease.

Tomlin and the other coaches are just in over their depth. It's that simple. They're incapable of preparing for opponents and taking advantage of other teams' weaknesses. They can only excel when other teams fail to prepare adequately for Pittsburgh. That's why Pittsburgh upsets solid teams and gets destroyed by crap team. Those guys game-plan like their lives depend on it. That's all they have going for them.

Agree with all you've said. Unfortunately the bleeding heart liberal Rooney's don't seem to care what we think. The coach and the director of player personnel can only be the responsible party's for the poor product on the field.

What I do find strange is that Colbert seemed to excel in the draft when Cowher was here but has been a flop working with Tomlin. Could it be that Cowher was the real talent with player evaluations and not so much Colbert? Also, the F/A acquisitions were fantastic under Cowher and Colbert but a disaster under Tomlin and Colbert. It has really made me think Cowher was the person more responsible for the talent through the drafts and F/A than Colbert.

It seemed to improve dramatically when Donahue was replaced with Colbert, I suspect that at that time Cowher had much more input into the drafting. The big change seems to reflect on the arrival of Tomlin. I think he has improved, still not good but better than he was. Ben really **** the bed today.

Let's look at it from a business standpoint.

The rooneys aren't going to change **** if they are making money.

Why would they?

Regardless of another 8-8 year, I bet they make more money this year than last.

TOmlin should have been fired last year.

He should have been fired after the ***** game. Then again after the clowns game.

Now after yet another emberrassment of a game.

Week in, week out, year in , year out.

This is the team the rooneys want. How do I know that you ask ? They've had th exact same team for three years now.m

Rebuilding, retooling whatever , the team went to ****, they have no answers in the draft, the coaches can't get better performance out of the **** on the field.

This is the modern Pittsburgh Steelers. A money making machine , the on the fild product is secondary and unimportant to the rooneys or anyone else in that building

In hindsight, the Sean Mahan debacle should have been a warning sign. If one recalls, Mahan was Tomlin's guy. Being familiar with Mahan during his time in Tampa Bay, Tomlin personally hand picked him to replace the retiring Jeff Hartings. What a disaster that was.

The OL has been an issue during the entire Tombert regime, while the quality of the defensive personnel has gradually fallen off a cliff.

As I alluded, the status quo is no longer acceptable. It cannot be.

We are in the hunt for a PO spot and the Division, so everything is on the up and up. "One game here, one stop there, one catch, we are close to being elite in this league. They have full confidence in Coach Tomlin and Kevin Colbert." No matter what we think, it doesn't matter. They are 7-5 and are in the thick of it. That's good enough.

Let's say you fire Colbert, you really , I mean REALLY think the next guy won't be a no experience Rooney rule hire?

More than likely , it will be a no name Schlub who's the right pigment.

Same with TOmlin .

You could get rid of both, you're going to get more of the same.

PC , is much more important than Ws

Nice, when you do the comedy club tours , is your other stuff that funny ?

Still the best 8-8 t. m in the NFL.

Just like the past few seasons.

Not going to get any better without major changes.

Starting at the top.

Yes we are still in it, we are tied with three other teams in our division for the rest of this week and until the next game is played. We are now more than one game behind the team that leads our division and play them twice, which we will likely now need to sweep them and win both of our other games.

If Keisel is hurt badly after we let Mauro go to the cards, and Williams to the Chefs and then watch Cam Thomas fail to push the pile allowing Brees to step up in the pocket to complete passses makkes me shake my head..........Did anybody see mcCullers today?

Nicer, you're funnier than the other guy.

Let me guess, when the pickem thread comes out, you always pick

Steelers 298

Opponent immaterial -37

They will be hugely lucky to win one the rest of the way .

I've been saying the same thing for years.

I wasn't trying to be funny. Its the drivel that will come from the Rooney's. They would have to lose their remaining games for them to even slightly consider making a move at HC or GM. Think it will happen? I have some Peace Dust to sell the folks in Iraq.

Ahhh, gotcha, I agree wholeheartedly . Rooneys are laughing all the way to the bank

As far as our defense goes how about we just dumb it DOWN. It is apparent that we don't have the players to run the complex Dick LeBeau defense...HELL it has been apparent for a couple of years. Just dumb it down. It cant get any worse can it?

No, wrong on all counts. I was merely stating what a huge hole they dug for themselves with this performance. We will have to play Atlanta who has a record under 500, and Cinci twice, which if they split Cinci can take the division. Figure they **** the bed in and manage to hit 8 and 8 again, maybe 9 and 7 and the balchinians go wild, 7 and 9 is still possible as well.

Anyone watching GB/NE? We are so far away from these two teams, its scary. This is our barometer.

I saw Big Dan shaking his head after Thomas was mowed over by the center (only) and the RB ran past him.
