What I think I think

Yes we are still in it, we are tied with three other teams in our division for the rest of this week and until the next game is played. We are now more than one game behind the team that leads our division and play them twice, which we will likely now need to sweep them and win both of our other games.

Do you honestly believe we will beat the Bengals even once? - I don't. I've had both the Bengals games penciled in as losses since the Tampa Bay game. We drop both Bengal games, the Kansas City game, and will depend on the Atlanta game to determine whether we are 8 - 8 or 7 - 9.

That is the thing...we all see the good side and then the bad....you have to wait and see on Sunday who will show up. Today we didnt have enough show up.

See post 21 above, again commenting on the hole they dug today and how difficult it will be to save the season. Even though we are still it mathematically our team looks like they are looking for the end of the season and time off.

We used to be one of those teams at the top of the league every year. I miss those days.

We all do, but the players on defense for that run were all worlds better than what we're trotting out there now. Hell, some of the ones from that run that should be on SS are playing significant snaps for us.

Right and for all of the high draft picks invested in the front seven, it's ridiculous they are so bad.

Talant evaluation, tombert. Enough said

Salute the nation

Since the days of Mean Joe Greene I can't remember a time like now when we don't have even one playmaker or game changer on defence. Coach Coolshades Dumbass has undone decades of Steeler history with his lack of talent evaluation and drafting.

Nope....there's not a single player on defense to built a team around...none.

we don't know enough about shazier or jones to say that yet

We know that Jones sucks and the defense immediately got better when he was hurt being thrown like a rag doll into the QB, getting Jones and unwarranted sack and forced fumble. He is slow, small and weak and has no burst.

Anyone watching GB/NE? We are so far away from these two teams, its scary. This is our barometer.

I watched the Vikings hold their own against GB last week. The Vikings are out of the Playoff picture but still playing hard. Huge win yesterday against the Panthers in a Cold home game. The Steelers are the opposite, in the Picture but playing soft.

It is the on the Coach.

He was one of 5 impact players identified by Tombert in that draft. While other teams stayed away, Tombert sprinted to the podium after pitching a tent.

I hope that I'm wrong but I just do not see Jarvis Jones translating his colligate success into the NFL. This was a terrible selection by the Steelers and its picks like this especially in the 1st round that will keep this team as cellar dwellers for years. You have to hit homeruns in the 1st round, you have to in order to be successful in the NFL. We've really missed badly on the early picks the last 8 seasons and I emphasize 8 seasons because that's when the poor drafting seemed to begin and that's when Tomlin was brought in.

Perfect example of the Tomlin era drafting is the Archer pick in the 3rd round when we needed secondary help badly. Landry Jones a few years back has been a waste. Shamarko Thomas who we traded up for hasn't seen the field.

Signing guys like Cortex Allan but letting Keenan Lewis walk, bringing in turds like Cam Thomas, Mike Mitchell, Arthur Moats, LeGarrent Blount. The problem is obvious with this football team and it starts with Tomlin and Colbert who have been a train wreck evaluating talent.

I disagree with the 1st round comments-

Just take a look at Denvers/New Englands/ Green bays draft history. Not that much different than ours.

This has nothing to do with any other teams drafts, I'm talking about the Steelers drafts. Plus teams like the three you mentioned don't hesitate to bring in quality F/A's unlike what the Steelers do. What those three teams do to compensate for misses in the draft is fix the holes through quality F/A's. We bring in Arthur Moats, Cam Thomas, Mike Mitchell and LeGarrrett Blount all busts.

yes, and we tend to limit our flexibility by playing so close to cap, year in and year out.

But we wouldn't want to lose Cortez Allen. Just wait till they extend Dri Archer for $20 million.

I understand the reasoning behind signing Cortez...and letting Keenan go. It's not like every single defensive player we lose goes on to shock the NFL and play at a high level. I believe topseed posted the defensive players we've drafted in another thread - the fire Tomlin thread.

and the flip side is while some fawn over what might have been with keeping Keenan, they say he's not that good either.

damned if you do and damned if you don't.
