We can't pay to repair bridges, but there isn't a single expense that comes from war that we can't somehow afford. The global elite make $ on war, but not on fixing bridges, so there it is.

Yep. You've got it all figured out.

I thought all those bridges got fixed when Barry spent that trillion dollars on shovel ready projects, what's more shovel ready than a crumbly bridge ?

None of the engineering work was done and ready for the money.

Here is Delaware, because the money was earmarked to spur the economy, only "shovel-ready" projects (i.e. jobs they had engineering and plans ready to go) got they money. And since States didn't have the engineering done or paid for (most outsource all their engineering now), the only thing that got done in Delaware was a bunch of patch asphalt jobs, filling in potholes, mill and overlay, concrete patching, handicap ramps, etc.

It was all bullshit. Didn't help the infrastructure much at all. All cosmetic.

Water, sewer, stormwater and bridges are where the problems are. Stuff you don't see because if you did, we'd be demanding government do stuff about it. We love bitching about pot holes because we see them and make our ride to work a bit uncomfortable.

Squeaky wheels get the grease as they say....

The evidence that is Detroit and Baltimore, after decades of Democratic rule, doesn't support this notion. Or the economic situation in California.

Maybe they wouldn't prefer this. But they seem unable to properly govern if these cities and states are evidence.

If you were a tax paying blue collar type, maybe it made sense to vote Democratic before the jobs went overseas. Now, Unions are a burden. Companies are moving their shops to non-union state in the South.

This isn't your father's democratic party anymore. They have shifted focus to people who VOTE for a living that needs the government first and assume people the middle class who went backward about $5,000.00 a year will keep voting Democratic.

Call them Reagan Democrats if you will. Wake up and vote for Trump. He's the best union and fair trade canidate in decades...

You also have the permitting and inspection processes that get in the way, being run by gov't bureaucrats, and crooked politicians with personal interests. These can hold up projects despite the engineering being done. You also have the environmental agencies that demand to have studies showing the environmental impacts. Oh, and let's not forget about how a percentage of the budget MUST go to minority contractors, whether they exist or not. It is a miracle that anything gets built, specifically where public projects are involved.
