When is Ike coming back?

Worilds has 2 sacks
Moats has 1 sack
Jones has 2 sacks

One of those is being paid to do more than that.

Regardless, Jones has more sacks in less time than either of the other two. Although as Worilds has said, he's not been tasked with rushing the QB as often, for whatever reason. And, for whatever reason, it's been somewhat more effective for our sieve of a defense. I'd like to believe this is due to Jones and Shazier being out, though. Hopefully when both those guys are back (btw, welcome back, Shazier!) that the defense will gel a lot more. Right now, either by design or scheme, our LBs are rather ******* interchangeable.

I think it was insaniti that showed the stats about his "dropping into coverage". It came out to about 2 more times a game than last year. He was doing the same thing last year. He got a sack last year on Brady when he dropped into a zone coverage. Brady had no one open and Worilds came up and got him about an inch behind the LOS. He isn't covering TEs down the field. He is still around the LOS in zone most of the time.

prior to injury Jones already showed more flases as he did asa rook and looked like he was going to have a big year, he had 2 sacks @ a FF vs 1 sack 0 turnovers as a rook, was constantly getting pressure, vs Balt if Fat *** Cam could do anything he would of made play's.
With a front 7 of
Heyward Mcculers Kesiel/Tuitt/C.Thomas Worlids Shazier Timmons Jones the blitz packages will be deadly, esp when we go nickel in the 2-4-5 or 1-5-5
where it will likely be
2-4-5
DE Heyward DT Mclendon OLB Kesiel OLB Worlids LB Shazier ILB Timmons CB Gay CB Taylor CB Mccain S Troy S Mitchell

1-5-5
DL Heyward OLB Harrison OLB Kesiel OLB Worlids LB/S Polamalu LB Timmons DB/LB Shazier CB Gay CB Taylor CB Mccain S Mitchell S Blake

In today's presser Coach Cool Shades related that Ike has been participating in non-contact drills and playing on the scout team. Personally I don't think we see Ike for three more weeks until after the bye week.

Is there any chance we sign Townseed and go back to the 4 - 4 - 4?

I don't doubt that at all, and I missed his post showing that. I know he hangs around the LOS now, more as a spy. Why, I don't know. I do know I saw him a few times in the middle of the field watching Luck.

Mostly beccause he is fast. Not the best in coverage but he can run down mobile QBs if they take off.

I'm sure he is spying Luck and also taking away the short middle of the field on crossing routes.

yeah, but he'll do the same this week against Flaccid. It's not like Flaccid has wheels.

Moats has one sack in eight games, and it came in the Carolina game. Jarvis has two sacks in three games, one of them was also in the Carolina game. Jones has 14 tackles to Moats 11 in five less games. Harrison has one sack and 8 tackles in five games. I get that you hate the Jones pick, most of us do, but don't downplay his improvement that he was showing.

These are fair points. Jones improved a great deal from last year to this. He was doing a decent job of holding the point of attack on running plays, and was getting pass pressure.

One point is that not only did he get 2 sacks in the first 3 games, he but that he was getting held - a lot:

Being held around the neck by the Panthers ... no holding call. @$%& you, refs.

Different play, same game. Still no holding call on Panthers. @$%& you, refs.

Has the team been playing better with or with out Jones on defense. Stats aside they stopped on several occasions one of the best offenses in the nfl last weekend with out Jones.

Stopped em several times? Stopped em into 34 points. I don't think we can count on Ben to be touchdown Jesus every week
