When will Tomlin give rookie Matt Thomas a chance?

He's our fastest linebacker. He lead the team in tackles in the pre-season, and shined in coverage responsibilities. He also had a great sack and strip play.

Matt Thomas has 3 down potential. Yet for reasons unspoken Thomas has not had a chance to shine with the defense. Rookie James Washington has had 25 targets with less than 100 yards receiving...and still get chances. When will Thomas get a chance for situational football with the defense?

There is a chance Dupree will not play on Sunday. If he's out, should Tomlin give Thomas a chance to rush the passer?

I say yes.

He should get some chances to play. Dupree is invisible again. We need a playmaker like Watt on the field.
 
why would you compare the playing time of a Defensive player to that of a WR?

it may be that Thomas' speed is not showing up in plays made during practice and he is this year's Thadeus Gibson or <insert "I can't believe we let this guy go"> player here. It might be that Tomlin and Butler are blind and stupid.
 
Next Year unless we have injuries the rest of this year

Maybe he hasnt shown the ability in practice to be trusted?
 
I don't know, when I watch Vince "I'm slow to everything but the dinner bell" williams, and Jon "I'm slow even to the dinner table" Bostic running two and three steps behind tight ends that you need a calendar to time in the 40, I gotta wonder if maybe the fast kid with a little less experience might not be an upgrade. I mean, at least if he makes a mis step he has a CHANCE at correcting and still getting back to the TE, these guys make one wrong step and the QB knows it's a gimme, cause there is no way either one is recovering.

I know I'd be playing Thomas over Chickillo at OLB. They need to figure out a way to get him on the field.

Bostic looks like he is running with a piano on his back out there. I guess Thomas hasn't kissed enough rings yet. Just play the best players, nimrods.
 
I can't answer as to why he isn't on the field but I can tell you I'd like to see him get some action. SPEED kills and rookies can start unless there is something we aren't privy too (which could be a lot).
