Has to be Marino, but Unitas was simply different. He was throwing 25 TD's at a time when 15 TD's was the standard, and had a low interception rate for QB's of the time. Between 1957 and 1967, Unitas-led teams had a record of 93-43-3, where Unitas threw for 31,253 yards and 243 TD's, an average of 2,866 yards and 22 TD's per year when the season was 12 games the first 4 seasons and 14 the last 7.

9 times in those 11 seasons Unitas was top-4 in passer rating, leading the league twice, and was top-5 in passing yards all 11 seasons, leading the league four times. Eight of the 11 seasons he was top-5 in passing TD's including leading the league four years in a row in TD passes. Just different.

Again, I am glad how the unitas thing went. If the Steelers had him, my guess is mean joe, TB12 and possibly the 1974 draft doesn't happen

Which was the bigger blunder? 1) Letting Unitas slip through their fingers. 2) Trading Len Dawson. Or 3) Not drafting Marino.

Got to go with Marino on this one. A hometown kid stepping in right as the dynasty was winding down could have completely reshaped the 80s and 90s for us. Unitas and Dawson sting too, but at least those were a different era of scouting.
