Who is your "no, just no" guy in the 1st round?

What does Sean and the Rams have to do with the New York Jets? If you think Simpson is a back half of the first, fall to the second half of the second kind of fellow, it's not out of the realms of possibility a QB desperate team like the Jets (especially a team like the Jets) would use the 16 pick on them. After all, the Jets are the team that drafted Geno Smith early in the second, Christian Hackenberg in the mid-second, and Zach Wilson at number 2 overall.

Actually Concepcion lined up on the outside most of the time, but he can play any receiver position. So if the Steelers' $30 million WR1 gets hurt or does something stupid and gets suspended again, KC could fill in at X.

The guy beats man coverage. He gets open in zone coverage. He had one of the best win percentages ever against press coverage since they started recording the stat in 2021. He runs the entire route tree extremely well. That's why he's not going to last past the first round.

You're worrying about what happens if WR1 or WR2 gets hurt, meanwhile we don't even have an LG1 and maybe not an LT1 on the roster.

You can choose to ignore it, but depth at the wide receiver position is a huge concern. After Metcalf and Pittman, the cupboard is essentially bare. They have Roman Wilson starting in the slot, a guy who has shown next to nothing for two years. The two-deep consists of Ben Skowronek, AT Perry (whoever that it), and fullback Max Hurleman actually listed on ESPN as the back-up slot receiver. C'mon, man. They have NOBODY. Now sure, they can wait and add a WR in the second round, but something has to be done, and Concepcion is the perfect fit for what the Steelers need. So no, it would not be "preposterous" to draft him.

As far as not having a left guard, apparently they're happy with Spencer Anderson. Whether Jones reclaims the left tackle position or not is indeed a question mark, so I'm also good with taking Kaydn Proctor in the first round if he's available.

Pittman can also play the slot.

Safety and guard aren't premium positions and teams can find good players on day 2, possibly even day 3 (Mason McCormick). We'll see what they think of Jones' injury at LT. The Steelers have been too easy to defend for opposing defenses. They've also brought in or visited with a ton of WRs, probably more than any other position. Unless they're trying to throw up a smokescreen, it's pretty obvious they value that postion in the draft.

I disagree. Concepcion fits a big need and they will need three guys. He can play outside as well as well as inside and Pittman is slated to play a lot of the slot. MM wants flexibility among his wideouts. Aside from getting the OSU guy to fall he is one of the few I would consider And he would be the PR.

Guys like Tyson and Concepcion can develop into WR1s. Concepcion would be top-3 in this class if not for his drops in college.

You don't need to spend a first round pick on depth at one position when you're lacking starters in others. I don't know how I can make this more clear.

They paid Pittman $19m per to play the slot? Yeesh.

They've been easy to defend because they can't block. You don't find guys like Faneca or Decastro in later rounds.

Hope Weidl has the most say in round 1.

We'll trade up or trade out of the 1st.
There's maybe 8-10 genuine first rounders and then about forty similarly flawed players that would be 2nd rounders most years.
So the answer is almost anyone unless we trade up for a genuine blue chipper.
