Who would you compare pickins and to you what is his ceiling

Pickens has shown quite a bit as a rookie, particularly trapped in whatever we would call our offense this year. That being said, not sure we can really get our arms around his ceiling until our offense opens up and he consistently gets more balls. In any case, the young man looks special and the arrow is pointing up.

While that may seem a bit like a no-answer I will say that on certain teams with different offenses or difference OCs, he very well may have been rookie of the year.

Julio Jones has perfect hand placement and runs crisp routes. George wishes he was JJ.

Right now, He's Martavis Bryant. Not a crisp route runner that gets open with athleticism. Anquan Bolden would be his ceiling IMHO. I see nothing in GP's deep game to get me excited yet. I'm not seeing the speed or deep separation yet. He's athletic and raw, and needs to improve his footwork.
Pickens is still all about potential. I still think this team needs a playmaker who can scare a defense. Johnson, Pickens, Freiermuth, and Harris are talented, but there isn't a single guy in that group that can take over a game or just dominate the opposition.

FIRST and foremost, this offense isn’t very player friendly.

Secondly, I think George is the real deal if by chance he can get a chance to develope.

Regardless, I’m rooting all the way for everyone of our guys and especially for George, because we need a bright spot.

If you want a comparison in our system,

He's behind JuJu, Chase, and Lipps for a rookie season with the Steelers. All of them had high potential and JuJu and Lipps had a fantastic sophomore season, but none of them sustained elite numbers past year 2. Our best receivers took 2-3 years to develop.

Still a ways out to start predicting where GP will finish yet.

So you are saying that we can't understand his cap hit in 2026 yet?

So far , i compare him to Martavis Bryant. Why? Because im not sure yet, if he has his head screwed on right. More talented than Martavis, but both electified us their first seasons.

I agree within Matt Canada's offence Pickens is Martavias Bryant now. Hopefully that changes.

As you said Pickens showed no signs of being a deep threat in this offense. Moss was from day 1. AB was a workout warrior and route runner. At his peak he couldn't be covered.

His ceiling is 100% dependant on how much work he's willing to put in. Even if this year's offense doesn't cater to Pickens strengths (and I'm not holding my breath it will) he still needs to put in work. Time will tell if he's willing.
Let me remind you all, Game 3, Mitch at the helm, George makes the catch of the year and possibly the decade 37 yards down the field against Cleveland...pretty sure that was the deepest throw within his grasp all year. This could be due to living with our fears, rookie QB, or an anemic offensive scheme. Even so, tied for 12th with the most 20+ yard catches with 17, only 1 40+ yard catches. One more "SHOCKING" piece of information 62 different players in the NFL had 2 or more receptions totaling 40+ yards, can you guess how many Steelers had more than two 40+ yard receptions?

Like I said the Steelers offense didn't exactly cater to receivers last season. Hopefully that changes. Even if it does Pickens will have to put in a lot of hard work to get up to the top receivers category.

I have no reason to believe he won't put in the work. If he does I think he's is capable but time will tell.

He is already working with someone. Pretty exciting to see what he can do with an offseason and training camp to sync with his receivers even more...

Was reading prior the draft lindy compared him to d.Parker I think before he ran a 4.52 checked before draft 4.49 at 6”3 I see him as 1 with the potential to be good as these 3 in thier prime Ashton Jeffrey similar size and physical style aj brown bigger version what I am hoping is what I expected chase to be another Julio jones similar size and speed once he perfects his route running he will be a force.
Ashton Kutcher was a wide receiver in high school, for the Clear Creek-Amana Clippers in Tiffin, Iowa.

Alshon Jeffrey is a pretty good comparison, though.

Those stats with our HC, QB and OC are HOF numbers with those shackles on
Maybe so. But I think everyone should step back take some perspective
Let him develop a more complete route tree and put up some 1000 plus seasons. I'm confident he is going to be special, but let's not shackle him with expectations beyond reason.

What is this route tree you speak of?
In Pittsburgh it’s called the route branch

Martavis was pretty talented in his own right. He was just a guy that couldn't put the trees down. Pickens is talented sure but not sure if I want to peg him more talented than Bryant. Bryant could have been a superstar. His head just wasn't in the game but the talent was there.

I agree. Im just sayin, i still am watching pickens because im not sure hes all there.

I think the sky's the limit for Pickens. He has the talent and seems to have the want/drive to be great. He plays with a chip on his shoulder. Only time will tell and hopefully, Canaduh doesn't hinder his and KP's growth.

Different skill sets imo
Not sure why all the Bryant comps

Bryant could take the top of a D and excelled at gaining separation, Pickens a huge catch radius and excels at combat catches, doesn’t need separation to be open…he’s like a basketball player using body control to box out defenders to create his space.

If Pickens is coached up, something not seen around here too much, he’ll be the most dangerous weapon on our team. The potential is there, will he realize his full potential remains to be seen.
