Will Haley Be Gone?

I've been a vocal critic of Haley during his time here. But, you've got to give the man credit for what we are seeing on the field now. I don't know if he envisioned this type of offense or if he put it together on the fly so to speak. Whatever the process, it's obviously working.

That said, with Haley having turned this offense around, I have to wonder if he won't be due some consideration for the Head Coaching opportunities that will arise after the season ends. Or, will he have to wait another year or so to prove that this year was not a fluke?

Personally, I expect that he will at least get some interviews if for no other reason than to allow GMs to pick his brain. Ultimately, I think there is a 50/50 chance that he gets hired somewhere this year.

The problem for Haley is that out of the teams who might reasonably be expected to make coaching changes this year, where does he fit?

NY Giants
Washington (If Snyder gets happy with the hook again)
Chicago
Atlanta
SF
Miami
NY Jets
Jax (Do they fire their coach after only two years?)
Oakland

The only problem is he already failed pretty badly as a head coach. Sometimes coordinators get more than one shot as head coaches (Norv Turner), but not usually. He is OC of the #1 offense (bizarre to believe) so you never know. I think he's a little too much of a hot head to be HC.

You haven't figured it out yet? This is a results only league. Take Jim Harbaugh. 3 NFCC Games and a Super Bowl loss and now he's on the outs in SF. People were upset with Haley because 8-8 is UNACCEPTABLE in Pittsburgh where playoffs should be the norm, not the exception. Haley is a good offensive coach and always has been. The last two years we've fought through bullshit injuries to the line and last year we straight up started 0-4 to jeopardize any real chance to compete despite finishing the season 6-2. Now you have a healthy offense and look at the results. The defense is in serious transition and has been fighting injuries all year. Some of those players are just getting back (Shazier/Jarvis). We have deficiencies in the secondary that we are all well aware of, but even with those this team is two bad losses away from being 11-3 and tied with Indy and NE for best record in the AFC. We have turned the corner on offense, the defense might just be one good draft away.

Nah, I've had it figured out for a long time.

Again, I was a pretty vocal opponent of Haley's offense. And while everything you all point out is true, there's also the job he did with the Cardinals during their Super Bowl year to consider. On the flip side there's the job he did to KC also. (LOL). I wouldn't be surprised if he was on some teams' interview lists. I would be surprised if he got hired this year.

I've heard it said that he left a pretty loaded team when he left..I know Andy probably on't complain.

Oh, I wasn't talking about the talent. More about the "they bugged my office, my phone, and my cell phone" allegations and just bringing to light the in house issues they faced at that time.

I told you guys haley would be great. Oh and f**** B.A.

Firing Arians was a move in the right direction. it took a couple years for haley to flesh out good playcalling for this team's strengths, and he still leans conservative too often, but it worked out for everyone. Arians was by far a better HC type than a coordinator and haley, for better or worse, did get ben to change a lot of his style and created a legit balance to the offense. Haley will likely get another look at Hc somewhere after this year or next

It was absolutely the right call and you are right that it took time, but look what Ben is doing compared to Carson Palmer right now.

Haley did 2 important things. He broke Ben out of his schoolyard mentality, and he re-committed to running the ball to be a balanced offense.

Arians is getting all this credit for Arizona, but he inherited a team with a strong defense and an offense that just needed a QB. Let's see where the Cards are in a few years as each year, that toughness erodes as Arians puts all his time into creating big plays.

how many QBs have AZ gone through this year? They are playing hard, but their QB situation is on life support. They will get bounced early in PO.

It don't matter. Palmer is, was, and always will be garbage. Sure, he strung together a few good games. But in the end he would have intercepted the Cards out of the playoffs. That's just who Carson Palmer is: Tony Romo minus the good natured personality.

ANY Cardinal fan would give their right pinky to have Palmer in there right now. Garbage or not, he was their best option. Lindsey would never see the field if they weren't in this position. He is a step up from Manzel and a step below Hoyer.

Bad luck. They have a pretty good defense, but with the QB situation, the offense doesn't/can't help them out much this game. I wonder though; they have had the rookie QB from Virginia Tech (?) on their roster all season. Would it really be worse to let him take a shot than this Lindsey (sp) guy they've trotted out tonight?

Coughlin is coming back and so is Philbin in Miami.

I don't think Haley is so **** all st00pid that he'd subject himself to Daniel Synder. This is a good situation for Haley right now with the offense performing like this. I think he stays at least one more year. At this rate with the offense playing like this I kinda hope the offensive coaches...Munchak & Haley stay with the organization....they have really got it going this year. Steelers right now are the #1 offense in terms of yardage.

I appreciate the large improvement on offense, but calling plays and being a head coach are two different things, and I'\ve seen nothing from Haley since he got here that makes me think he is head coach material.

A lot on here say that about Tomlin also though and he is still coaching. :)

When he came here I was very concerned about Haley's temperament and maturity. Looks like he has made great strides. Probably due to age but also believe Tomlin deserves some credit. When you look at the coaching staff he has built here it may be as good as we have had-hope we can keep it together for awhile.
