Hines Ward holds the following franchise receiving records:

#1 Receptions
#1 Yardage
#1 Touchdowns
#1 Playoff Receptions
#1 Playoff Yardage

What a great career by the man that always played with a smile on his face.

Ward was also #2 all time in playoff TDs (2nd to Stallworth)

Yep he was never the fastest guy but always found the holes to get open, he wasn't the strongest player but was tough as hell to tackle and defenders hated when he blocked, he wasn't the tallest player but he found a way to get up over "skill" guys to grab the football. The man loved to play, and it showed everytime he did anything, with a giant *** grin on his face

When AB left I saw a report that mentioned his career Steeler stats & was pleasantly surprised to notice he wasn’t the Steelers’ all time leader in many categories. Glad to see one of my all time favorite players still sitting at the top after that circus show & hopefully it helps his hall of game push.

Crimson steel, brown had his 50yard 5 catch record (ore something like that) he defended vohemantly ! It was even to the point of sideline melt downs. If I Remeber right, when the streak was snapped he was a ******* idiot about it.

I am so glad Hines retained most and is a GREAT STEELERS representative and soon HOFer.

Salute the nation

Even before AB was gone there was no question in my mind who was the best Steeler receiver all time. I have an #86 jersey hanging in the closet. :smiley_abyz:
.......... #84 was never even considered from the first time I saw the 1st down gestures and end zone penalties:tsk:

Sorry cope... AB is the better receiver by far. He will be a first ballot HOF guy and depending on qb play he gets going down the back end of his career may finish second in the nfl in most stats....

Ward is by far the most complete football player to pkay WR for us, and a HOF type guy in his own right, but Talent wise AB is just better...

If Jerry Rice had played two seasons for is he would be the best wr ever to play for us even though he wouldn’t own a single career record

Its just a shame that whatever happened a couple seasons ago to AB mentally did... he absolutely went from a general good guy to a headcase... i guess the fame just went to his head...

I agree that AB is very physically talented and worked hard to improve himself. He put up incredible numbers over a 6 year stretch in an offense that fed him a large number of opportunities. If he had continued on this path and all the noise surrounding outside distractions never happened then I would say he is a 1st ballot HOF candidate. With all that has happened and the way he disrespects the league with comments on social media, he would have to light it up in Oakland for years to be considered a 1st ballot player. He is more likely to end up like TOwens and have to wait a few years just because of the off field garbage.

The difference is the Owens, like lloyd or Bonds, attacked the media relentlessly and treated them like crap... Brown plays nice with enough of the media that they will overlook the nonsense... ultimately its how you treat the media voters and their friends that gets you blackballed or not... other off the field issues are always overlooked

If AB blows a knee, or suffers a catastrophic injury that ends his career tomorrow, you think he's RIGHT NOW a first ballot HOFer?
That's just absurd.

Hines > AB

I agree, no way he'd be a first ballot guy.

I despise AB too. And his antics sucked and still do....But he was the greatest Steeler receiver, period. Before this drama we all agreed AB was the best. Let's be honest here

In PGH he put together THE GREATEST 6 year receiving stretch in NFL history, and it isn't even close....

He left us & he walked out on us. And he talks bad about us now. He didn't just leave the marriage, he blew up the relationship. So.....Even though AB was the greatest receiver of all time. The end just killed everything....What a shame

But character and the complete package come into play and someone who isn't here, is not of much value to you.

So Hines it is....

But he was never our first choice....AB was....

What a way to end a relationship

I'll just echo what another said, Hines > AB

Hopefully JuJu puts up numbers that top AB

I said he will be one... not that he is one right this second. However it took Ward 14 seasons to really garner HOF type numbers... Brown already has a pretty solid case for the hof even if his career ends tomorrow... he wouldn’t be a first ballot then, but he would eventually get in like swann or Terrell Davis

Given typical star wr longevity and standard production patterns for their mid thirties years, Its very difficult to see how, barring injury, Brown doesn’t retire as the 2 or 3 all time receiver... and he may have an outside shot at rice if everything works out perfectly for him

Yeah his tenure here ended poorly, but that doesn’t change the fact he is the best receiver in steelers history...

He has no shot at Rice. Brown isn't close and his career won't last more than say 5 more years.

Rice is undoubtedly one of the best pass-catchers in the history of the game. However, the rate at which he's unravelling makes it difficult to determine how long he'll last or how well he'll do.

Don't forget Super Bowl XL MVP.

Ward is the man! **** AB,his stats, his self centered petty bs and his fake friend true colors that define him.

Swann & Stallworth will forever have a special place in my heart, as will Louis Lipps. But yeah, Hines is definitely up there with the all-time greats.

Isn't Douchette one of the voters..... if so I am pretty sure he will blackball Douchebag from what I have read about the relationships with some media.

He is moving to Las Vegas next year...... maybe he will start placing sports bets on his own team .... there is a pretty good player still not in the baseball HOF for such possible activity.

Feel anyway you want about AB before or after the fact. Not everyone worshipped him and I am one of them. I prefer cheering for and enjoy watching talented players as much as anyone. To me Hines did so much more as a complete player. I want to see a receiver partake in all aspects of the game, especially blocking. AB is very talented and he did put up huge numbers but he was also targeted too often at times. We won nothing to speak of with AB and Bell on this team. I agree his stats are incredible but I would say there are plenty of other receivers in this league that would have had similar results with Ben giving them that many opportunities. Julio Jones , D Hopkins, Mike Evans, and Mike Thomas to name a few. Look at Jerry Rice stats from 86 to 96 as they blow away what Brown has accomplished.
If AB does it for another 6 years I will sit up and salute him but let's see what he does in Oakland before crowning him as anything above and beyond other receivers.
