With and without Watt: a case for drafting an OLBer.

Thats fine.. there are project edge guys who could be great in this draft… but its not their MO to really get those guys and keep them till they are ready… if they aren’t nfl ready asap, we just cut them for a guy who can play special teams better
What Cowher did is what the Steelers should still be doing. Spend mid or late round picks on OLBs every year to keep the pipeline full. If you draft well, your future pass rushers should be special teams demons early on. Even if they aren't, as you mentioned, keep them over a special teams only guy. I don't want to draft a guy in the first two rounds to sit on the bench for 2-3 seasons, but I'm fine with that in rounds 3-7.
