Ok, so I find the Katy Perry-all woman flight backlash to be mildly humorous for a bunch of reasons...

Chief among them is how badly this attempt at a PR stunt imploded on them, but also the debate on whether they are " Astronauts" or "Astro-nots"🤣.

First of all, for the unaware, here is an article about real Female Astronauts who had magnificent accomplishments and should be celebrated:

I'll be honest, I knew some, but not all on this list... so I will give props to the PR stunt for expanding my knowledge base some...

Tereshkova, Ride, Collins and Whitson are all famous in their own right

McAuliffe Gave her life trying to get to real space...

The Women on the recent Blue Origins trip are not astronauts in as much as they never left the actual atmosphere.. they only made it to sub-orbit. They would have spent less than 5 minutes in sub orbit before falling back to earth.

Unlike Space X, which actually goes into space, the pod wouldn't have experienced re-entry effects... so the stuff on the ground was staged for publicity...

The mental gymnastics trying to defend these attention hounds is just mindbogglingly obtuse...

Look, a bunch of rich girls took an expensive, automared, scenic flight then acted like it mattered more than it did..

The Right is triggered by the self important virtue signaling, the Left from the entitlement angle as well as diminishing the spotlight from actual women astronauts...

I cannot imagine how anyone thought the afterflight stuff was going to go over well for anyone

Some of the dumbest stuff I have seen in recent years. Calling them astronauts is an insult to anyone who has trained to actually be an astronaut. The stunt with the door makes it all the more embarrassing. And this is to say nothing of the bell bottom wetsuits they wore on their joyride.

They took a very expensive carnival ride. Nothing more nothing less. Those women are rightfully getting dragged online. Gayle King getting all indignant makes it that much more ridiculous.

Give me a break.

It is clear that these accomplished scientists did a lot of technically amazing things while in space. Why else would they have been chosen for this ground breaking mission?

I look forward to reading the scientific journals' findings on the scientific advancements that their trip to space brought to the fore.

11 seconds... from what i am reading, their craft actually spent 11 seconds in the absolute bottom of what could be called"space"... and tgere is some debate on that... it was still " sub orbit"

They arent the first Celebrities to grandstand on this accomplishment either... it was dumb then , its dumb now...

But its tge whole, " Let them eat cake" attitute that seems to be really riling people up... just tone deaf elitism...

They could have taken the total amount spent on this escapade and used it for women's issues across America, or for family issues, or centered on one community to demonstrate economic support for women/families in need.

Shameful

It's not just that. It's the media calling them astronauts, calling them the crew of the space craft, calling what they did a mission. They strapped into a penis shaped rocket that was launched into the sky and controlled by people at either Johnson or Kennedy Space Center. It's ridiculous. And every last one of them expect Americans to just accept those things in spite of what they see and know. Some people online are defending these fools and parroting the astronaut, mission and aircrew nonsense. Stupid doesn't describe it well enough.

I even saw on the socials that people are calling them "Heroic". WTF? People are out of their god damn minds.

Was there enough time to have a pillow fight before landing?

Well I mean ultimately this was all a PR stunt for BlueOrbit... all that staging around the landing site

I mean all the videos of Bezos cleaning up clutter beforehand shows the intentions right there... the over the top planned actions and comments from the women... everything was just meant to push the Blue Orbit is elitist cool narrative... but it backfired
