Worst passing-blocking LT "up for big payday?"

Moore is not as bad as he has looked in the terrible blocking scheme they ran. Is he good? No but he could be around average if the offense made sense and he was properly protected. I hope he does leave next year and get a good payday. It will increase the chances of a comp pick. If he can show some versatility this year and practice on the right side it would help his case.

With him still being on a rookie contract, he will be retained for back-up role this year.

Pending on circumstances, it’d be nice to retain him for future back-up and only an injury away from starting Depth.

For being a 4th round pick, he has done well for himself, i rooted for him in his underdog role.

other than a trade scenario for a receiver I agree.

Moore is not as bad as most think. I'd bet most fans around the league think their LT sucks. An LT can "win" on 48 of 50 pass sets but those 2 are all people remember. I'm not claiming Moore is great. An upgrade was smart, but he's OK. LT is such a hard position that even if a guy is 25th best, that has value.

It's like being a lefty relief pitcher. You can have a long career just being mediocre or even a bit below average.

The steelers will have Jones, Fautanu, and Frazier on rookie deals. Daniels and Semo are just the 19th and 20th highest paid OGs in the league. Broderick Jones is the 39th highest paid T.

The Steelers OL is dirt cheap so they can afford to overpay Moore to keep him to start until Fautanu is ready and then to be quality depth. Then next year you might be able to trade him if you can find another OT for depth.

Never a losing season.
Greatest LT ever.

I hear yaz Ron, maybe our new acquisition can set the existing LT down on the pine, for awhile….!!!

Moore is pretty much as bad as everyone thinks: He's ranked AT or NEAR the bottom of starting LTs every single year he's been in the league. Not just as a rookie, but also in his 2nd and 3rd year, and, if coach Tomlin has his way this year, he will be ranked near the bottom of his 4th year. He officially gave up 8 sacks last year. Not sure how many LTs had given up more than Moore.

Near the bottom but still he's a starter and there's value in that because there's barely 10 guys who are actually really good at LT. Moore may be the 30th LT and needs help, but the guy ranked 40 can get your QB killed. Moore would be one of the top backups in the league.

Exactly tape, if anyone is using PFF as ranking info, then they are using made up crap that would make a bad ****-samich.

Right and "top backups" shouldn't be your starter for 3-4 years, is all. Tomlin thinks starting a "backup" as starter is a great plan, not the brightest HC out there.

Facts are a terrible thing to waste. Tomlin is #12 in average playoff wins per season with coaches who have been coaching 3 years or more. 12th.

Maybe they plan on moving Moore to guard.

Otherwise, I have no idea why they draft OT in the first round two years in a row if they like Moore there so much.

I know Fautanu also projects well at guard, but Tomlin flat out dismissed the idea of moving him inside when asked.

It is hard to make sense of this team sometimes. I know the office has changed, but you know damned well that Tomlin still has a lot of influence on personnel decisions.

Tomlin inherited a great OL from Cowher. A few year later, Arians proclaimed that you didn't need a great OL if you had good enough skill players. That is somewhat true. Ben, Bell and AB overcame mediocre OL play for years. The Steelers got lucky with Villanueva and Munchak coaching up some guys.

They really messed up when they threw Moore and Kendrick Green out there to start.

Here's the sad draft history of OL under Tomlin. Pouncey is was really the only 1st rounder that Tomlin/Colbert targeted. They ended up with Decastro when he fell much further than anybody expected. They got lucky with undrafted Villanueva and 7th rounder Kelvin Beachum. Aside from that a lot of misses on later round guys.

Then you look at the last 2 years and you see the commitment to building the OL.

2007 5 Cam Stephenson
2008 4 Tony Hills
2009 3 Kraig Urbik 7 AQ Shipley
2010 1 Pouncey 5 Chris Scott
2011 2 Marcus Gilbert 6 Keith Williams
2012 1 Decastro 2 Mike Adams 7 Kelvin Beachum
2013 none
2014 5 Wesley Johnson
2015 none - Free Agent Villanueva
2016 4 Jerald Hawkins
2017 none
2018 3 Chukes Okorafor
2019 7 Derwin Gray
2020 4 Kevin Dotson
2021 3 Kendrick Green 4 Dan Moore
2022 none

2023 1 Broderick Jones 7 Spencer Anderson - Free Agent Semualu
2024 1 Troy Fautanu 2 Zach Frazier 4 Mason McCormick

Yes, unquestionably the last 2 years. And, during the Pouncey/Fenaca period. But before each, a vast wasteland of virtual nothingness and this is on Tomlin. Taking a 5th, 4th and 3rd rounder isn't even "maintenance" of the OL, as it it turned out, it wasn't; none of those guys added sh--. Then after building a solid OL in 2012 period (after years of letting it run into the ground, no pun intended), they once again nearly completely ignored the OL until 2023. I guess Tomlin isn't very quick to learn.

And it wasn't as if others weren't noticing the near-ignorance of the OL. After the 2008 draft, with reporters knowing the OL was in need of attention, Tomlin braggadociously claimed he was "helping Ben in other ways besides drafting OLmen." Yea, that draft really "helped" Ben out with:

- Spin and Fall
- Limas "I can't catch nothin'" Sweed
- Bruce "I simply can't play" Davis
- Tony "weak all over" Hills
- Dennis Dixon
- Humpal
- Mundy

Yea, Shades, really a group to boast of there.

Tonlins fault when draft picks fail.he went to take a **** when draft picks are good.
I want the guy gone just like everyone else. But all things bad do not fall on Tomlin

Next year he's a FA, we have no say on where he goes and for how much, finally we will be released from the most overrated LT in the NFL.

Agreed. He is a serviceable LT and can be a role player-can we say ‘65 is reporting as eligible’? Also, he could be trade value closer towards training camp. Somebody is going to have an injury and be desperate for a tackle.

Both jones and Dotson were serviceable with a good offensive line coach… huge mistake to let MikeM go he could put a decent offensive line together it’s been joke since he left… going to get really expensive now since they started throwing high draft picks at the problem… not to say both green and oak weren’t they were 3rd rounders! But What happens if the 2 tackles flunk out? We finally wake up hire a decent offensive line coach? Ya At this rate we’ll win another Super Bowl ring come 2050.

Good Lord. Just who is overrating him? “The most overrated LT in the NFL”

So….there are what….10’s of millions of NFL fans world wide. Does that mean millions of fans think he’s good?🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄

It’s funny because “Lloyd” had a post of how Moore was ranked near last, so how do you get over-rated when ranked at the bottom to begin with…… ?

Because he keeps his starting job in spite of being the lowest rated LT in the NFL, it's not that had to figure out there Herbert.
