My answer is only as a last resort which means a 90% "NO". We have a new coaching staff. It makes little sense to bring in an old guy like Rodgers even if he plays like he did last year. The team needs to move on and actually try to develop a young QB of the future. It needs to be Howard, a draft pick, or a young QB they may trade for. If you take a few lumps this year, so be it.

I was against Rodgers last year but changed my tune. This year, I won't unless we just won the SB in a year from now. Move on and start new, or at least as new as we can with more than enough old guys on the roster already.

My knocks w/ ARod last year was his rigidity in target distribution and wanting to get rid of the ball in .5 secs. Reminded me of Ben and Ryan Switzer, running routes 1 yd down the field. I exaggerate but its time to move on. They hired this supposed QB whisperer coach so let's see what he's got. I'll take the down year if that's what it ends up being.

Negative. 1/3 of his TDs came in two games vs. the Jets and Bungles, he noticeably declined with the wear and tear of the season.

Aaron Rodgers — 2025 Season Total Stats by Half

📊 First Half of Games

  • Passing Attempts: 267
  • Completions: 172
  • Completion %: 64.4%
  • Passing Yards: 1,677
  • Touchdowns: 10
  • Interceptions: 3
  • Passer Rating: 89.7
  • Rushing: 11 carries, 50 yards, 1 rush TD

📊 Second Half of Games

  • Passing Attempts: 231
  • Completions: 155
  • Completion %: 67.1%
  • Passing Yards: 1,645
  • Touchdowns: 14
  • Interceptions: 4
  • Passer Rating: 100.7
  • Rushing: 10 carries, 11 yards, 0 rush TDs
I wouldn’t say there was a decline from first to second half of the season. It has been established Stafford doesn’t scramble for significant yards and AR can still sling it.

We can beat feet all we want about change but there has to be attractive options not put all your eggs in one basket option.

Now if the new staff thinks there is a free agent QB that can fit that bill sure sign me up.

But if they think for one season he is the best option I am fine with it.

I liked Arthur for being better than some OCs but he did rotate scrubs in entirely too much. That and the lack of much of a receiver room and he still had a ok season.

Not sure what fans think they are getting with a table of lemons at WR…

I’ve said it before, I’d like to see Aaa-Ron brought back with out the starting QB guarantee.

Best option would be is if he was a #2or#3 and coach.

A true directed player coach. There’s room in the QB room for that designation.if in the end, he has to play and thrives, then we accept and move on with more QB options next season.

We accept nearly the same, slash and thanks for all your great post(s) Selina the way. Appreciate yaz.

Well we know that man won’t come back to compete for a start. If there is a better option sure, but we know he will retire before having open competition..

Rodgers was the perfect Tomlin bandaid to make a run at one last Tomlinship…mission accomplished!

He needs to go to pasture with Mikey T, or at a minimum take his services elsewhere.

The last thing this franchise needs is another wasted season chasing mediocrity.

I was against him last year but welcomed him after arrival because it made sense to the “standard”…him coming back again makes ZERO sense for the franchise that needs a return to a legitimate standard.

What if there is no better option this season though? We know Rooney didn’t bring Magic Mike in to miss the playoffs year 1.

I think Rooney kind of forced the team into one approach that and the lack of options in free agency and the draft.

Bunch of ramen looking noodles in the pantry.

Rudolph needs to be QB3 or maybe QB2 depending on who they bring in or draft.
Yinz spelled off the roster entirely wrong.

😂

Yes. If we don't bring him back, I welcome that, too. He would probably be a great QB coach, too.

I wouldn’t be upset either way this plays out. But I truly believe play calling and Tomlin was the problem, not Rodgers ability to throw the football. When he ran his own plays he made plays and moved the ball down the field. I believe he was severely limited with the coaching staff.

That said, I’d give Howard a chance to see what he can do.

Offer Roger's a short term coaching job. Just for training camp and preseason.

Please, for the love of God, no.

We're talking about Rogers, not Ben.

It doesn't matter what I want. It's out of my hands. They do need to find a franchise quarterback for the long term. It appears they only win superbowls with a HOF caliber qb at the helm and of course a good defense.

But you can't find your guy,if you're constantly putting in has beens or never beens as a starter, just in hoping to win a few more games.

Growth comes with pain and until the Steelers are willing to take the pain,we will be stuck in limbo. It takes years for the most part to develop quarterbacks. Years!

Guys like Big Ben are very rare and for the Steelers drafting inside of the top 12 round one is even more rare.

I would hope Howard can be that guy and I'm sure we will get a chance to see if he has anything that will set him apart from the others.

I'm sure they will have a few new quarterbacks either by draft or free agent, so at least a backup plan will be in place.

Rodgers would only make sense if they had a superbowl caliber team and needed a sound minded vet with a good arm. I don't see the Steelers as being all that close yet.

I'm sure we will have a better picture by the end of camp and preseason later this year.

There is a better option though imho

Developing a young QB be it Howard, draft pick or 2nd contract FA QB are all better options towards trying to move forward even if Rodgers is slightly more talented today.

I literally can’t see one benefit from another wasted Rodgers season. Even if he’s ever so slightly better than another option that is sooo short term and that is a mindset that needed to exit the building a few seasons ago.

McCarthy needs to get his hands on some clay.

That is great in theory but without a name to compete with Howard … I guess I have to see the other option.
