You dumb ******* idiots coaching this team

See, herein lies the problem: Some of us (as diehard but objective fans) have anticipated and now witnessed Tomlin run this team into the ground. Your statement of the once-proud Steelers becoming unfocused, undisciplined, and rudderless is exactly right. However, this franchise won't become a "joke" until its record is equivalent as such. Like BAS mentioned, the greater public perception is that Tomlin is a good, Super Bowl-winning coach. The only thing that is going to change that view, and sway a move by ownership, is a terrible record for a season, or two. And, unfortunately, the team has just enough playmakers to muster 6, 7, or even 8 wins against an easy schedule this year. 6-10 after never posting a losing season is not going to be enough for the Rooneys to fire a guy around whom they fortifed their own rule.

Unfortunately, we're going to be stuck with Tomlin for a while.
Super Bowl winner to Super Bowl lose to getting beat by Tim Tebow in the playoffs to 8-8 and missing the playoffs two years in a row (and probably soon to be a third).
I detect a trend here. The arrow is pointing down.

this year should be the end of the road for Tomlin, no way he gets this team to a positive record. And three times in a row should be enough to send him packing

Without a doubt. Pointing way down, but not far enough below the line for this ownership team to admit their mistake. Yet.

Best case, they don't renew his contract, but they WILL NOT fire him. Never gonna happen.

we need to start a trend

no more games attended and merchandise purchases until changes take place

I here by vow

Sad part is Browns have no business winning this game. If the steelers scored 3 td in the first qtr when they had the opportunity this would be a different ball game.

The whole team is putrid from coaches to the qb. After Browns scored their first TD u are facing a 3rd & 1 and u throw a bomb down the sideline? Why not try to get the 1st down?

Wheaton is useless a 2nd Wr.

My anger with Haley/Tomlin/Ben came on the first series. 3rd and 1 with Bell making a good portion of his yardage this year coming between the tackles, so let's run a toss to the outside where he's lucky to come out of it with just a yard loss. Combine that with your sideline bomb later on 3rd and 1. It's like they pick plays out of a hat, in the dark, while all wearing a bunch of Tomlin's stupid shades with total disregard for what the down and distance is. It's to the point where I can't stand watching them play anymore.

Was anyone else screaming at the TV when the Steelers won the toss and elected to receive?

Dumb **** Tomlin said after the game if Ben wants the ball they decide to take the ball, no thought or insight on who they are playing, the weather conditions, etc. just more player friendly **** from the moron.

They kicked our ******* teeth in. Did it matter if we kicked or received?

I was just pleased as peaches to see our boy Heath as Gilbert's personal protector to help pass block virtually every play so he doesn't get exposed as the almost average RT he is. Our front office is as bad as the coaching when we reward almost average players with lucrative contracts handcuffing ourselves for the future as well. We often overpay our draft picks for fear of them hitting the market (Allen, Pouncey and Gilbert extensions). This is a primary reason we are almost average, poor talent led by pitiful coaching = more headaches than I can tolerate. Our horrid drafting has left the cupboard so bare we throw top dollar at average players. There are several players that could outplay Cortez playing for much less, same with Gilbert. There wasn't even a dropoff when we plugged Velasco, then Wallace into Pouncey's spot last year. Oh we'll throw money at em anyways, our owners have it to burn. Problems from top to bottom and everywhere in between.

Lighten up on Wheaton bro............he had a bad game, ran a couple bad routes but hes proving his worth now. Hes proving to have better hands than most wideouts in the league. He and Ben arent on the same page..........timin is all ****** up and i hope he and all his receivers and tight ends dedicate some extra time before/during/after practice to work this **** out.

Sorry but Wheaton doesnt get a free pass....he hasnt done squat. People ***** about Dri Archer as a wasted 3rd, Wheaton isn't far behind.

Wheaton will be fine, He just isn't an out of the gate guy. I think we have someone there. The 2 vets are the problem, they are not even good enough to play, wasted money.

**** it go with Brown, Wheaton, Brown2, Bryant, Moye.

We also need to go with the Doobie brothers BOTH in the backfield.

We could put 13 on the field on offense and still fail to protect Ben and get open or run the ball inside the twenty the way they have been playing lately.

Im not afraid of change..........but ..i see what impatience and change due to impatience can lead towards. Theres a handful of franchises that have patient owners in this league.....NE, NYG, Carolina, GB, PHI, BALT and Pitt...........all have either been to the SB or won a SB. Teams that change coaches frequently are WAS, CLE, DET, KC, MIA, OAK, MIN and TB...........none (w the exception of TB under Gruden) are even close and each time they change regimes they take a step backwards. These franchises cant attract the big names (coaching)..........

The Patriots are not afraid of change; their roster turns over at an alarming rate. And why should they change much? They have legends at HC and QB and have been top-tier SB contenders since I was 18 years old. They show patience by not canning Belichick and Brady after perennial deep playoff runs?

The Broncos made DRASTIC changes just three years ago. They were a playoff team, but going nowhere with a terrible QB. So they gambled on a late-30s ex-legend with a mechanical neck who may never be able to play again.

The Eagles don't change? They fired Andy Reid and his 10,000 NFC Championship Game appearances and replaced him with a gimmicky young college coach. They ditched McNabb for the risky Vick, then moved on from Vick and went with Foles.

so after a couple yrs, they fire the coach and replace him. .......................only to become impatient and fire THAT coach.

Why is it that the only two options are "Keep Tomlin" or "hire some ****** coach"?

All im sayin is if youre gonna fire the current head coach, you had better find a sure fit HC that you KNOW can turn it around else youre gonna be dealin with this same BS in 3 yrs.

Well, obviously we're hoping they replace Tomlin with a GOOD coaching prospect. I don't think anyone wants to fire the guy and promote Haley or hire Greg Schiano. As I said earlier, you're assuming there is NO coaching talent anywhere to be found. A handful of teams find good, promising coaches every year. They do so because (a) they have balls, and (b) their goal is to contend, not flounder at 8-8 and say "Well, at least we're not as bad as SOME teams!"

This Win now or Fire Tomorrow mentality is the reason theres so many bad teams---teams worse than what we are currently.

What if you've been on a slow, awful slide for several years? Do you just NEVER change coaches? All for the sake of not looking desperate?

Win now? LOL. We're just looking for "become decent again soon."

Heres the problem Spike.....Tomlin does leave a lot to be desired.....i agree, but we have to be careful in making changes so abruptly because if you bring in another head coach and staff and we see the same results OR WORSE with this team after 3-4 yrs, then what ? Fire the next guy ?..........and then Ben retires and we have to find a new signal caller and go thru a few 4-12 or 5-11 seasons (cuz you have to have a good QB to win these days), do you fire THAT GUY too ? Then, who do we look like ? Browns, Chiefs, Dolphins, Bills.........all goin thru coaches every few years.

I just dont know WHO out there we can find to replace him to turn this thing around. There are no guarantees but lots of unknowns

Don't be naive. We already look like the Browns, Raiders, Bucaneers, etc.....That is Mike Tomlin's legacy!!!

What top coaching talent would that be ?.......throw some names out there that you KNOW would turn this thing around in 3 yrs.

Are you claiming there's no coaching talent out there? Tomlin is our best/only option?

Not to speak for Ford, but we go through this dance a LOT.. someone mentions firing Tomlin, someone else indignantly demands an impromptu list of coaches to replace him with, the original poster provides a handful of names, then the subject dies with nobody responding to any ideas or names. What's the point? I think Ford and many of us are calling for the Steelers to evaluate potential new coaching options; what's the point behind demanding a list from a bunch of fans? And if Ford does give yet another list of possible names, what will you do with it?

Beat me to it. Great post!

Tomlin should send Cowher a thank you gift. Tomlin would be a complete career **** storm without BC
