I said give Russ the first third. You had to yank him at half. They did not. I'm not worried about hurting Russ' feelings. Don't want him back anyhow. Go out on your shield. After the last four games no way you are saying wow we should have went Russ if Fields is brutal. But I can almost guarentee they are going to get smoked in Baltimore with Russ. You gotta try to get a spark.

Fields isn't playing. That ship has sailed. And like Giselle would say - Russ can't throw the ball and catch it.

The way we had problems handling the ball tonight I'm wondering how many outdoor practices the Steelers have been having.

Yes,let's get this Fields thing out of the way. It wouldn't have mattered today and certainly not the last 3 weeks prior.

I'm sure they'll sign one of the two. At this point in time it doesn't matter until they get a new coaching staff. This **** show has run its course. It really has. It is an old stinky stale worn out shoe.

I see absolutely no way possible this team can achieve being a superbowl champion again.

What they will do is continue wasting years and talent. It's fatally flawed and I say this same **** every year now like a scratched record skipping in the same spot eternally.

I'm don't get mad any more. That stopped years ago. I 100% expect this outcome, they had me lured in for awhile, then hit me over the head and pulled the football away, again.

At one point Russ was seeing the open man and putting the ball in the backs hands in space. He was throwing for 2-3 hundred. He isn't and this wasn't a good defense. At least Fields gives you mobility.
I watched Wilson ignore wide open guys in the middle of the field and wait for the back to dump it off. The straw that breaks the back? Missing Pickens with the game on the line, after getting the look you absolutely want...would have been a walk in touchdown, and he misses him BADLY!

You do know he can't read a defense for **** right? He would need some really talented receivers, who actually keep working when a qb scrambles.

The Steelers can't run the ball for ****. Hell, they can't get a yard or even a half yard when they need it. **** they're soft and their blocking schemes are absolute failures.

Dan Moore I'd cut tomorrow.

Pickens was dropping everything. It wasn't because his hands got cold either.

Fields is absolutely not making those throws either.

Pickens probably would've dropped it.

I surprise myself even with my extremely low adjusted year to year expectations they still manage to get me mad.

Mainly because of the many head scratching game in and out decisions.

I think your top X and O guys in the league usually are better in game decision makers.

One thing is very painfully clear Tomlin is not that.

Not sure if it is the ones he makes or doesn’t make but both can make a claim.

And yet when they were playing well the national media laughed why anyone would want to move on from Tomlin. Now they have not had a lead in a game since Dec. 8 at any time. Crickets.
Part of the problem besides Tomlin’s inability to adjust is teams have figured out Wilson has struggles with pre snap rotating coverages. Guy missed open receivers all night including one late to Pickens which would have sealed victory.

Up to Smith to get him more comfy in the pocket.

I laughed at his "if we can't get a yard" statement. I knew they were not going to get that yard. They did well early with short yardage with Fields but they have really struggled all year to get tough yards when the opponent knows they are running. That's blocking scheme and players. For the life of me I cannot figure why teams can't just do what the Eagles do?

He had better line play during the wins where he could see the field. He relies on checkdowns and running back tosses now. Opposing coordinators know this and have made the Steelers one dimensional and a lot of that is the coaches fault.

Russ would look good as a playaction, misdirection/bootleg QB but the Steelers rarely employ those type of plays.

Wasted talent

A lot of that is because he cannot see over the trenches. That ultimately falls on coaches hammering away at the same damn philosophy expecting different results.

Definitely fatally flawed

Hard for players to shine when the coaching puts them in a deep pit to dig out of.

As a casual fan (meaning simply watch the games once- and the occasional all 22….used to rewatch and break the problem areas down) i can still tell presnap what the play is 90-95% of the time. Knowing this, I’m positive players and opponents coaches who have went through the trouble of breaking down the tendencies and studied film definitely know what is going to happen before it does. It is the most damn basic and predictable system I’ve ever witnessed. I gave Mike kudos for the fake punt vs the Commandos cuz it was one of the first times in years and years he legit surprised me.

The system is so flawed it’s hard to comprehend. No players will shine in this system short of the amazingly superlative once in awhile highlight play which is definitely not enough for any levels of success vs better opponents or during playoff football.

So we get this weak AF product brought to us by Mediocre Mike, the Mike-romanager, the human hurdle to success or to the nut huggers the GOAT.

I don’t get mad, I sit and watch and expect disaster/poor results. I don’t raise my voice/scream at the tv like the old days, sure as hell won’t spend the money to attend in person anymore. I simply watch and don’t even get disappointed cuz my expectations are that low. Now half the entertainment is pointing and laughing at Charlie Brown when he whiffs on a kick again (who knew Lucy would pull the ball away?)

I’m right there with ya, and sadly most of Steeler nation that have their eyes open are too. So here we sit together in purgatory, waiting for that beautiful day and a new coach…a coach with ideas.

Russ has done everything people on here said he wouldn't do because he is a Veteran QB who won a SB. All of those people are quiet now for the most part. Russ has been horrible in these last handful of games. He doesn't see the open WRs. Slow on his progressions. Misses on passes on open WRs. Bails out of the pocket early with happy feet. Takes horrible sacks. He does throw a nice moon ball evry now and then. There is that.

Or put in Fields and Najee for a short yardage play, or give a new look like Fields and Najee in the backfield, or use a FB or massive DT in the backfield as a lead blocker…so many potential
other options too like the Eagles rush push you mentioned.

But we alas lack any sort of intelligent or innovative coaching to even attempt any of the plethora of other options besides the ineffective and mind numbingly predictable same old same old.

People begging for a guy who can't read a defense to start at QB

How many years of ineptitude?

If Chargers beat Oakland this team has to go into Baltimore and be humiliated

And where do you start assembling next year's roster?

What makes next year different than this or the past 5 years?

Hard to support this organization when they've become the Browns

He was better at all those things earlier in the season, but definitely not recently.

It somewhat seems like the league has made adjustments and he, Tomlin and Smith have not been able to counter them. They destroyed the Bengals defense over a month ago, but could hardly generate 200 yards against them last night.

To me, Russ has lost the confidence and decisiveness he showed earlier and the offense just hasn't been the same since Pickens went out of the lineup.

They obviously missed Pickens when he was inactive and once he's returned, his mind seems to be in a different universe between flatout quitting on routes against the Chiefs and the drops last night.

Pux it seems Pickens has had the will to succeed beaten out of him by the woeful offensive scheme, a QB that doesn’t even look his way half the time, a bunch of media a$$hats that always try to bait him, maybe the fans too that endlessly dog him.

That young man needs a new team and a fresh start cuz he’s just sitting in a toxic spot and you can tell it’s wearing on him.

Next year would be a great time for a full on rip this squad down to the studs and rebuild from the ground up…won’t happen but long overdue.

Watt deserves a shot with a competitor- ship him to the Lions to pair with Aiden.

GP deserves a shot somewhere not so toxic for him- ship him to the highest bidder.

We the fans deserve a shot at something worth getting expectations up for-ship Mike to the highest bidder.

If Cam wants free ship him out too, he’s running out of time and deserves better.

The question I have is what did Pickens exactly have to be frustrated about personally?

Prior to his injury, both he and the offense were producing, yet as soon as he comes back, he acts like he could not give less of a ****.

The kid is just proving to be an Antonio Brown/Terrell Owens level head case who hasn't even gotten his first big contract yet.

It's looking increasingly unlikely he is going to get it from the Steelers, and it is definitely "buyer beware" toward whoever ends up paying him, even if it is a team like the Chiefs or Bills.

A lot of money is not likely to improve his character.

In theory a veteran who has been there done that could provide the team with a spark and sometimes leads a team to good things.

Then there is this managed team that won’t highlight a players strengths and minimize weaknesses. They actually manage to do the opposite.

You bring Darnold in he would be the pre Vikings QB. You bring in Queen and he makes half the plays.

Sure a free agent might initially do well, then they settle into the slide of suck that eventually captures this team on a year to year bases.

If a player leaves and goes to a suck team eh. But let them go to a good team that gets micromanaged better than ours. (the majority) You get a Dotson or something equivalent.

Minus the players that the Steelers took on that were a college problem or developed into a problem per the team’s culture. Even some of them manage to shake the Steeler stank off of them like a JuJu.

As long as this system of fail is allowed to dawn a pair of sunglasses on the sideline the eye covering won’t mask the inability to X and O and in game manage the team to good things when the heat is on.

Take those shades off subsequently you get bug eyes…

andd no surprise.

You see these teams and ball is out real quick. Like no opportunity to pressure. And always forward. There is anger at the offensive line and I get that. But you got a plodding back in there more then 50 percent, pass plays that take forever to develop. And incredibly predictable play calling. Not easy to block in those circumstances.
