People on here told me Russ would make our OL better just because he was under center. That every player on offense would be better just by having this Vet SB champion on the field.
Hopefully he turns it around next week. We need that leadership and skillset I was told that he brought to the table. We need it because we know Tomlin won't be changing what we do on the offensive side of the ball. The only change we can hope for is from the players themselves.
All that said.....Russ has looked bad these last 4 games. Is it all system? Nope. He has missed open Players with bad passes. Taken bad sacks. Got happy feet at times. Especially if late.In theory a veteran who has been there done that could provide the team with a spark and sometimes leads a team to good things.
Then there is this managed team that won’t highlight a players strengths and minimize weaknesses. They actually manage to do the opposite.
You bring Darnold in he would be the pre Vikings QB. You bring in Queen and he makes half the plays.
Sure a free agent might initially do well, then they settle into the slide of suck that eventually captures this team on a year to year bases.
If a player leaves and goes to a suck team eh. But let them go to a good team that gets micromanaged better than ours. (the majority) You get a Dotson or something equivalent.
Minus the players that the Steelers took on that were a college problem or developed into a problem per the team’s culture. Even some of them manage to shake the Steeler stank off of them like a JuJu.
As long as this system of fail is allowed to dawn a pair of sunglasses on the sideline the eye covering won’t mask the inability to X and O and in game manage the team to good things when the heat is on.
Take those shades off subsequently you get bug eyes…
andd no surprise.
