The offense. I think it is pretty self explanatory.what is the excuse for the extremely conservative defensive game plan

Who exactly puts that staff together?I'm not a hater, just finally came to the realization the coaching staff has been subpar for a long time.
The media is wildly out of touch and the Ownership likes what they hear.I'm tired of the lack of postseason success while everyone in the media points to the coach as an amazing coach.
He seems like an amazing human being and a great role model for what young men should beIt seems like Tomlin is a good guy
Welcome to the group, we were formed in 2015I'm questioning more critically these days his ability to coach and develop a team that can compete at least occasionally with the best teams in the league.
I don’t actually think the drafting has been awful, as there have been numerous players picked who do not fall in the category of “awful”It's been years of similar results with poor drafting, poor developing, poor coaching staff, poor game and clock management and poor game preparation with similar blame and excuses.
He was a DEI hire, which I was not against, he showed promise. He was given a quality team and a Defensive coaching staff one dreams about. He was allowed to use those training wheels to get started and learn with. When he was given control to do his thing, he showed that he had reached his ceiling. At that point they should have moved on but Ownership doesn’t like the optics of doing so.At some point, the top guy has to be held accountable and can't just pass on the blame to everyone else. Especially, the more we learn about his control of both the defense and offense.
I hope you are prepared for another underwhelming season of hope but no real success. Like it or not Tomlin will go when HE decides to go, Ownership is too afraid that they may not improve on the current C+ to B- Head Coach.Hopefully, this year the team does great and things change. Until that happens, the rinse and repeat the last decade plus has become tiresome.
I’m with you here Drink. I really like Jaxon Dart from Ole Miss. I think he’s plenty mobile, has a strong enough arm, good size and no he doesn’t have Kenny’s tiny baby hands. Actually they said his hands measured out first or second largest over 9”.
I think they would have to take him in the first round though. They have no second as you know and he’s not going to be there in the third.
As for the development part. Yikes! Who is going to do that?
Why??
If they do this here's what I think of our braintrust:
Why not just call back Ben?
And an effective OL. TWO first rounders, a couple of other FAs in fairly high regard and what do we have to show for it? One of the worst OLs in the NFL.He wasn't very good, but given how the Steelers have been investing in the OL and then added a stud WR1, Pickett shouldn't have bailed last year. They're putting in work to building an offense for a young QB, they're just missing the young QB.
Because the front office is full of a bunch of dumb *** ******* mall walkers. Not sure why they sacrificed a high draft pick and valuable cap space for a premier WR without securing a QB first.
Even if Wilson comes back our OL still needs work, lots of it.
Mason Rudolph says "Here Myles hold my helmet and my beer."I'm guessing they think they aren't very far away from contending for a SB. Apparently they don't watch their own tape. I don't know if it is ownership, the FO, the coach or all three, but they are sure making a mess. I mean, Aaron Rodgers and Russell Wilson are your two best options, and there's a scenario where they could end up with neither. Then what?
Almost all overall rankings I have seen have them in the middle of the pack. Not bad for a group that couldn’t keep the same lineup from week to week. As young as they were and beat up they have a lot of potential. Lineman can take years to truly develop. If healthy they will be top half to top 10.And an effective OL. Not to mention playing out of position.Almost all overall rankings I have seen have them in the middle of the pack. Not bad for a group that couldn’t keep the same lineup from week to week. lol....based on hope, not history.Almost all overall rankings I have seen have them in the middle of the pack. Not bad for a group that couldn’t keep the same lineup from week to week. Few things. Kyle Allen is not rostered, he's a free agent. As is Mason Rudolph. Also, where did you read about Richardson? This is the first I've heard any mention of his name, outside of him and Daniel Jones competing for the Colts starting job. Speaking of the Colts, Flacco is a FA as well, only team he would have to hit before he retired would be the Bengals and he'd have the whole North covered. The QB situation with the Steelers is Mike Tomlin's fault! Kenny Pickett, Mitch Trubisky, Mason Rudolph, Justin Fields, Russell Wilson.....now we have Skylar Thompson & Kyle Allen on the roster. To think that one of the best options is a 41 year old QB is completely laughable! I don't care if he had an MVP season 3 years ago....The body really starts to decline after 40! I've heard they contacted the Titans about Mason Rudolph and are considering trading for Anthony Richardson from the Colts. The same Anthony Richardson who was benched last year after saying he was Exhausted in Game and basically quit on his team. The guy can't read Defenses and is just not an NFL capable QB! He was replaced by Joe Flacco the rest of the season!
I'd rather take Kirk Cousins or keep Russell Wilson on a 2 year $25Mil per season deal with incentives than Aaron Rogers or anyone else out there. Rogers can be a cancer in that locker room! Cousins is a good QB....he's 36 years old.....He might be our best option......Both Cousins and Wilson are close in terms of talent.....Russell might do a better job protecting the football the football than Cousins but besides these 2 guys I really don't see anyone else out there. But I think if they were going to keep Wilson they would have already resigned him.
There's 3 QB's in this Draft that look like they could produce at the NFL level. Cam Ward, Jaxson Dart & Brady Cook. The Steelers have no chance at Cam Ward and I don't even think he's the best of the 3. I do like Jaxson Dart from Ole Miss & Brady Cook from Missouri.
Tomlin has created this disaster at QB and it's about time this bum gets FIRED! I actually can't stand listening to him speak! He's a M0R0N! The Standard right now SUCKS and that's Mike Tomlin's fault and no one else! The guy has total control of this team and carries the least responsibility!
what is the excuse for the extremely conservative defensive game plan
I think you are partially right. It is a chicken or the egg argument. Tomlin has proven that he wins more than he loses with this system when there is a question of QB competency or ability. He has to let it go at some point or we won't take that next step to winning in games where we make mistakes. As much as I am not on the Rodgers train it might force Mike to let the QB play the game. Or Rooney may force that.Yeah. I heard all that before. Pickett wasn't aloud to use it either though. Tribisky wasn't either. Rudy nope. Ben in his last season was limited. Seems it has more to do with our HC than who is our QB.
No I am basing it on history. Despite some rough moments they were a middle of the pack unit last year overall and that was with a lot of changes and young players. Much of it thought will depend on the QB.lol....based on hope, not history.
did not happen.Idk if my friend is messing with me, but he said rogers announced on pat McAfee he coming to pittsburgh
I said this yesterday and saw an article this morning saying he is in no hurry to decide. If the Steelers didn't give him a deadline, shame on them. If they also aren't actively pursuing other options (they need to assume Rodgers goes to the Giants) and even signing one, again, shame on them. They should have Rodgers, Wilson, or someone else inked today or tomorrow. Don't wait on Rodgers to go hide out in the woods for a month before he gives them an answer. Rodgers is arguably worse than DK and or GP in regard to diva-ness and his demands of running the O his way. Smith couldn't get along with Wilson so how the heck will he get along with Rodgers who is much worse. If they do sign Rodgers, they need demands on him of taking a back seat to Smith and showing up for OTA's and the entire preseason. He either agrees to bee a professional and part of the team or don't consider signing him.
Kyle Allen is a FA also. Only QB currently on the roster is ThompsonThe QB situation with the Steelers is Mike Tomlin's fault! Kenny Pickett, Mitch Trubisky, Mason Rudolph, Justin Fields, Russell Wilson.....now we have Skylar Thompson & Kyle Allen on the roster.
