Aaron Rodgers Contract Offer With Steelers Is Reportedly A Massive Number

Not sure why they sacrificed a high draft pick and valuable cap space for a premier WR without securing a QB first.

Even if Wilson comes back our OL still needs work, lots of it.

He wasn't very good, but given how the Steelers have been investing in the OL and then added a stud WR1, Pickett shouldn't have bailed last year. They're putting in work to building an offense for a young QB, they're just missing the young QB.

Except that the offense they employ is at the junior high level.....at best.

I like the concept of Smith's offense, but we didn't really see it in practice last year. Each QB had his limitations in running it. If only you could take the best of both of them.

Not using the middle of the field is ludicrous.

Carful, you'll be accused of being a Clown-lin hater.
I'm not a hater, just finally came to the realization the coaching staff has been subpar for a long time. I'm tired of the lack of postseason success while everyone in the media points to the coach as an amazing coach. It seems like Tomlin is a good guy, but I'm questioning more critically these days his ability to coach and develop a team that can compete at least occasionally with the best teams in the league. It's been years of similar results with poor drafting, poor developing, poor coaching staff, poor game and clock management and poor game preparation with similar blame and excuses. At some point, the top guy has to be held accountable and can't just pass on the blame to everyone else. Especially, the more we learn about his control of both the defense and offense. Hopefully, this year the team does great and things change. Until that happens, the rinse and repeat the last decade plus has become tiresome.

Yes and no. We are not the only team that has that issue. Fields was too risky and Wilson too short to see the middle of the field. We need someone who is competent enough to make smart decisions and tall enough to see them.

Right. They had limitations at QB. The OL was young with 2 rookies that were probably running on fumes by Week 12 or so. They didn't have a #2 anyone worried about, and the #1 is inconsistent, to say the least. The starting running back was not a big play threat.

I don't blame Tomlin for his risk adverse offensive game planning. I blame him for not getting the talent to run anything but that type of offense.

what is the excuse for the extremely conservative defensive game plan

Tomlin’s **** schemes are a primary reason the GM has to trade for talent to get them to come here.
His **** schemes are also a reason you have to overpay decent talent (as if they are great) to sign long term here.
Free agents, sans an overpay, aren’t lining up to come execute career death by putting up garbage numbers in a garbage scheme in Pittsburgh no matter how cool of a dude Tomlin is to play for.

So the GM is left to pursue the scrap heap, overpay mid free agents, bring in the geriatric retreads on their last leg OR have to draft talent to get it here, problem there is it’s not Mike’s job to develop players and draft picks don’t come
ready made. Quite the dilly of a pickle for Khan.

I’ll just evaluate Mike as “I’m just glad he’s our coach” cause every other team in the league would fire their coach in a heartbeat to have the continued level of pissing excellence that Mike
Demonstrates year in and year out.

We a truly fortunate to enjoy such an awesome culture/standard. Thank you Art Nutting

Yeah. I heard all that before. Pickett wasn't aloud to use it either though. Tribisky wasn't either. Rudy nope. Ben in his last season was limited. Seems it has more to do with our HC than who is our QB.

You seem to think the lack of us using the middle of the field was just limited to the last third of this past season. Lol

Read that the Titans are negotiating with Ole Russ. And that the Giants and Steelers are waiting on Rodgers to make a decision.
And that the Steelers are interested in bringing back Mason in a backup role.

All RE-action decisions.

Scramble scramble, but at this stage what else can they do?

I’m kind of hoping they decide to draft a QB and actually develop him.

Why??

Actually it is very understandable... Here is our current braintrust:

Why not just call back Ben?

Rudy!!!

And a draft pick

A poster here had a dream, that dream led to many a thread and post discussions, those discussions went to RUDY’s head or should I say nose……………..

That dream has not yet been satisfied as it will resurface with vengeance and things will be made right, come Christmas Eve, not a noise will be heard and all will be smiling, for today will be CHRISTMAS DAY. Be happy !!!!

I see another vote for Fire Tomlin 🤣
You said “actually develop him”

Back to the need to have been proactive-but reactive Art Nutting was just glad he is our coach and handed the extension before what should have been the prove it year last season.

I’m with you here Drink. I really like Jaxon Dart from Ole Miss. I think he’s plenty mobile, has a strong enough arm, good size and no he doesn’t have Kenny’s tiny baby hands. Actually they said his hands measured out first or second largest over 9”.
I think they would have to take him in the first round though. They have no second as you know and he’s not going to be there in the third.
As for the development part. Yikes! Who is going to do that?
