Report: Aaron Rodgers Is At Steelers Facility On Friday

Sadly, true, very sadly true. This is no longer the 2005 Steelers.
I'm not much of a Tomlin supporter these days. However, in the years leading up to 2005, plenty of fans were calling for Cower to be fired because his teams couldn't win the big games. Between 1997 and winning the Super Bowl in 2005, the Steelers either didn't make the playoffs at all (4 times and 3 with losing records), or lost in the AFC Championship game (4 times). These days, most remember Cower as a great coach, but many wanted him gone and had this type of message board existed back then, many of the same people going off on Tomlin would have done the same with Cower.

All true, but it doesn't change the facts:

1.) Cowher was handcuffed with loser QBs until Ben fell in his lap. He had sufficiently built the team up in everything else other than the QB position until Ben came along, twice actually. The early 90's was his first SB team, followed up by the 2000's version. Both were clearly different teams, both were Super Bowl teams, built by Cowher.
2.) Tomlin has NOT built much of anything without Cowher's influence. His 1st SB teams were clearly BC's. Tomlin's 3-8 record his last 13 years really speaks to Clown-lin's influence.

Those 8 seasons (’97 to ’04) as you said produced four AFC Championship appearances, though. The last 8 in Pittsburgh (ironically exactly 20 years later) have produced nothing but 4 non-competitive playoff losses. Cowher won playoff games with a rookie Ben, Kordell, and Tommy Gun Maddox in that span.

Amazing he got the same heat Tomlin is getting now, heat that is NOT applied by the national media. Can’t remember how Cowher was viewed nationally at that time.

I hear everything you are saying but just wanted to add to comment on there being a HUGE difference from fans spewing off under the influence of 4-AFCCG losses as opposed those spewing off sincerely of the 8 years without a playoff win and no decisive direction they are headed, other than Tomlinships and Non-losing seasons, Groundhog Day.

Saw where he Steelers may have told Rodgers they want a decision before the draft. That obviously didn't happen. If true, who really thinks Tomlin wouldn't roll out the redcarpet right up to the first week of the season and possibly beyond that? There is just no way you can keep playing these games with Rodgers. After this weekend, tell him to go f himself and move on. If it's Rudolph, great. If it's Wentz, great. Just do not even think about waisting draft picks and a ton of money on Cousins. That would be a bigger disaster than bringing in Rodgers. MOVE ON!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tomlin will wait until camp for his man-crush Rodgers. If he waits until the day before camp, Tomlin will welcome him with open arms. This shiznit show is ridiculous. Tomlin and Rooney have ruined the Steelers long-lived culture.
My take as well. I think they have a verbal deal with A-Aron but he was waiting to see if they drafted a QB in the first round and doesn’t want to bother with minicamp and OTA’s so they’ll wait until that stuff is over so both sides have cover. Then A-Aron will arrive at the first day of training camp on James Harrison’s fire truck.

What if the Falcons ate a bunch of Cousins salary, kinda like Denver did last season with Wilson?

I think he is at $45M/season. What if the Steelers paid $10M for this year, then the last 2 years at full pop? Total $100M/3 years for a starter who had great success with great WRs, and a teacher for whomever the Steelers draft this year or next?

Think of the possibility:
At least a couple more Tomlinships!!

The problem with Rodgers wanting to miss everything until the preseason just doesn't cut it for me. He is learning a new system and has to get in sync with new players. Being there for OTA's is important. Practice is important even at his age. He also needs to build relationships with his teammates and build trust with his teammates. This isn't the Pittsburgh Rodgers, it's the Pittsburgh Steelers and he is just one piece of the team. He's not good enough anymore to not practice.

Still a no for me. He was horrible for the Falcons - at least the little I watched him and from what I've heard. He got benched so why on earth would we want to spend the draft capital and cash. I think it's a dumb move all around. We are in a terrible spot due to Kahn but mostly Tomlin with our QB situation. Suck it up and start Rudolph or another cheap free agent and take your lumps. This team isn't winning anything this year. Tomlin has wasted the best years of Watt, Cam, and Minkah's careers. We have no window right now.

Cousins is cooked
10 million for him is about 7.5 too much
Rather roll with Rudy than Cousins

what if the steelers roll with mason rudolph and go10-7?
That'd be a helluva lot cheaper than doing same with A-Aron or Cousins.

If the stains grab Deion's boy, then Bert is #4 and probably available at some point. I'd be ok with him tossing PI balls to GP and DK.

We don’t know this for sure. It’s plausible that the Steelers know and that it informed their draft selection.

Our offense system probably isn't that hard to learn. Hand off on 1st. Hand off on 2nd down. Throw a quick out on 3rd down short of off the sticks. Punt. Then simply repeat that numerous times.🤪

It seems inevitable that A-Aron will be here by OTAs. Makes me wonder if Davonte Adams would want to don the black and gold? Would we want Davonte, Pickens and Metcalf?

I don’t think it’s inevitable, damn sure hope not.
Don’t want any part of him.

Let Rudy and Howard duke it out…if Tomlin is worth his salt he gets 9 or 10 with that pair of aces.

And Adams is signed, doubt the Rams are just gonna eat that money to trade him…sure AF want him even less than Rodgers. That dude is a pos team mate.

How many wins we get is completely dependent on how the OL and defense perform. If it's anything like the last 6 games we'll be lucky to get 5.

Mike Tomlin gave Rich Eisen a pretty good indication he believes Rodgers will be signing with the Steelers. It's the most I've ever seen Tomlin hint at in terms of a personnel move.

I didn’t realize Adams signed elsewhere. I pretty much tuned out the offseason until this week.

A "non-losing" season is as sure as the sun rising in the east.

I think the last two years have shown a more decisive direction in team building and now we are close to just needing the QB.

History says yes. But if they don't improve substantially in the trenches not a chance
They haven't been that good there anyway. As long as the defense can get enough games of a great pass rush we've already seen this team can win with very little offensive production. Aaron Rodgers should be able to drag them to 9 wins. The overall roster isn't too bad, but the QB position is dreadful.

It’s a team game
New QBs
New RB room
New starting receivers
A flipped OL, different positions, returners, departures
New pieces all over the defensive line and secondary

The win total will rely on several components, obviously. The OL and defense are components of the whole. It is up to every man to play above the line and constantly be improving. There is no singular component or positional components that will be the singular factor in our ability to persevere on game day.
