This site would have a melt down if the first time he touches the ball he goes 50+ yards with a TD
how bout the first time he is injured or fumbles?
(stirring pot)

So Bryant and his 2, 10, and 2 kick returns and 0 punt returns but can return kicks and maybe punts. Archer who on a team who returned 9 punts last year only has 6 career returns is a "kick returner only". Yep, I see the logic there...
Yes, I have heard the same BS that Archer "can't" return punts. But I also know the Steelers(and other teams) took Archer outside on a cold windy *** day after his pro day and had him field punts.
Ok, you think his ceiling is McCluster. Of course Reggie Dunn was an UDFA so we had nothing invested in him. Rainey got in legal troubles that's why he's a colt.
Yes, his floor is a package specialist, return guy. His ceiling is a Tavon Austin type weapon. I'd have been fine with Thomas also. But he's a 49er not a steeler so I'm not focusing on him.
I was using Blount as an example as a late round/UDFA RB that became productive. Not like I said a guy with a total of 14 kick returns would be a great kick returner but a guy that was on a team that barely returned punts couldn't because he didn't have a bunch of punt returns.
Nope, his high is the ******* love-child of Barry Sanders, Devin Hester, Dante Hall, Wes Welker and Darren Sproles.![]()
Surely TMC is already preparing his mea culpa regarding Archer as well.
yep. I recall that like it was yesterday (wormhole and all).I have no problem stating I am wrong. I said it with various players. The funny thing, a couple drafts ago, fought this same fight with three players that draft, they were Mike Adams, Sean Spence, and Chris Rainey. My argument against Adams was he was a character risk and lacked the feet to play LT. My argument with Spence was he lacked the bulk and frame to play inside and I thought he would get injured. My argument against Rainey was his size, durability, and fumbles (those sound familiar).
I see him being right more often than not
But I am not. I am wrong way more than I am right. It is the nature of the beast. You just have to accept it and move on. I hope like hell I am wrong on Archer. I truly do. Otherwise, we just flushed a top 100 pick in a draft that many feel was the deepest in a couple decades. That hurts this team.
But, the Steelers are behind the curve in doing some things, like using analytics and metrics in their draft analysis. I am not stating it is the end-all of the debate, but it helps keep you off the players that are statistical outliers, meaning they lack the physical traits of the larger majority of natural NFL players. In essence, the probability of success with those players are slim.
When the Steelers step to the plate, they need to utilize everything possible to help them make that swing count, not picking the littlest bat and sending up the slowest runner with the worst batting average.
When our head coach doesn't know when to go for two what should our expectations be?

If Archer makes it, I'll be the first to state I was wrong. You ever wonder how many people that hammered my *** on those three have ever nutted up? You won't need a clicker to count them.
And people ask me why I post less and less........maybe it is because everyone damn sure wants to hold me accountable but few have the sack to hold themselves to the same standards.
Archer will be certainly the most debated player on the team this year.
Can't wait for him to prove all the doubters wrong.
By the way he is a Steeler now. Call me old fashion but I think we should all root for him as long as he is wearing the black and gold.

LOL, take it easy man, I was just goofing around. This thread seemed to be heading into the abyss. Didn't mean to piss you off....kinda forgot we had a half-serious debate going on about Archer...my bad. That would be your high....which appears to be LSD laced.
Again, TMC I'm a huge fan of everything you do, I hope I didn't get under your skin. By no means was I calling you out. The last 10-15 pages were getting increasingly Monty Python-esque, I was just having a little fun.I have no problem stating I am wrong....And people ask me why I post less and less........maybe it is because everyone damn sure wants to hold me accountable but few have the sack to hold themselves to the same standards.

Jarvis Jones and Lawrence Timmons vs Mike Adams and Dri Archer on a goal-line drill...who ya got?
I want the option for Jason Gildon!
