Broderick Jones

I hate this Aaron Rodger bs. I ******* hate it and what’s it’s doing to our image.
I blame Art for allowing this bs and he needs to tell Tomlin to move on from this old narcissist.
I feel yea.

You know those are just cap allocations? 2025 he is making $30m, but only $10m hits the cap because most of it is signing bonus.
The point is it's gonna hit. Pooowwwaa, trickle.

The positive side of all this is that I think Broderick became a better player, not offensive lineman, but a player who seen the dark side RT and has made his mind up he in no way wants to end up back there,

Thus he is working his asZ off (literally) to assure his locked down LT position.

There is always a positive, just harder for some than others to find.

Oddly enough we may have GP to thank for developing BJ

The positive of GP going off the rails last season was that BJ took it on himself to be a great teammate, a solid friend and try to look out for GP (help protect him from himself)

As soon as he took on this added responsibility it seemed he got out of his own head a bit and he started improving his on the field play as well. Sometimes a distraction can help one focus- from the hidden positives department.

Could have also been a product of getting healthier, maybe a combination of the two.

At any rate he showed the type of character you love to see from a guy on a team you root for and I have a feeling he’s going to really turn some heads this year. Wishing the young man a solid productive season cuz guys like him are easy to root for.

Of course Rooney does, but that doesn’t mean he exercises it for every pick. Outside of the owner, who has the most pull in your opinion, the 18-year HC, the bean counter with the GM title, or the assistant GM who has been with the team for 2 seasons?
If the answer is Tomlin or Rooney, then we should not be noticing any differences in the way that the Steelers have drafted since Khan/Weidl replaced Colbert. Does anybody not see the difference?

Doesn't matter how it's cut up, he's making far too much for what he brings.

It's hard to say. Timing was part of it. The OL was due for an overhaul regardless. Not that they were effective in giving it one, but they tried. Two first round picks on OTs in a row, another 2nd on a center. That's a lot of draft capital. Is our OL all better now? Impossible to say. It's a circus. Deet, deet, deetle deet, deet ,deet, deetle deet deet, step right up, see the ever flexing Clown-lin 3 ring OL circus.

Tomlick: "Let's trade up to get Jones and then play him out of positiion. Laugh, snort. We do not care".
Probably the same laugh, snort he made when we traded up to 10 to get an ILB or when our franchise QB blew his elbow out at the age of 37 or what ever it was, and there was a chance Ben would never be 100% again, so he takes our 1st round pick that could've been used for a QB and trades it for a safety, who had an all pro year, then Tomlin decided it would be smart to make him play centerfield while making his the highest paid safety.

And my point was Tennessee are up for the money regardless. There is nothing they can do about the $26m that will hit in 2026, other than further defer some of it by converting the guaranteed salary to signing bonus. Your post appeared to state he might not see the money if his 2025 performances were on a par with his Steelers performances.

Well, do you think TN is ever gonna see play matching his high #? I don't, Moore is NOT a good OT, not even close to 1.

Tomlin does not have final say on draft picks
So they way, you can't trust anything they say. All murkey, all in the shadows. It's the way Rooneys want it. Fans can't know who to scream at if there never is a target. Done by design.

LT B.Jones, 3rd year man with 2 on RH side, rookie year looked good, sophomore year not so good

LG Seumalo Only veteran and proven

C Frazier 2nd year man, played pretty good rookie year

RG. McCommick 2nd year man who played holding his own mostly, but showed great upwards play

RT. Fautanu, 52 snaps last year before out for the season

I see a very strong up-coming OL for the future. Lot of question marks for the up-coming current season.

They will be better than the OL that Ben Roethlisberger had his last season here.

There’s definitely some potential for a great line once they gel. The depth is a tad concerning though. The backup center played very well when called upon last year, but if something goes wrong at guard or tackle (particularly tackle) it could get ugly very quickly.

Hopefully a veteran tackle is on Khan’s shopping list. With little depth, a guy switching positions and another guy coming off major injury that would be the area I’d look to add a piece.

For Seumalo I'd add: Injured last season and didn't look great when he returned. He may have been rushed back because his return coincided with Daniels going out so might not have been fully healthy. Need to see better play from him this year.

For Frazier and McCormick: Last season they looked like many promising rookies - faded down the stretch as they've never played a 17 game schedule before. If they can take the next step and sustain for the entire season, that's a big step forward for the line.

I believe Weidl sets the draft board, maybe that is what informed the OT/DT picks the last three years.

Damn. I legitimately forgot about that one!
Ever average is a perfect way to describe Hood's play. That dude was extra forgetable for sure. And yet somehow he managed to play in the league for a decade.

He had a cool name.

Ok I'm going to put this out here again... to have a great oline you dont need 5 great olinemen... the adage
is one great lineman, one above average and three good to average guys... if one of these guys is great and one is borderline pro bowl level we will be set for a long long time at oline...
