Tomlin Presser! He’s Delusional

Communication is once again the biggest problem, according to CMT. How long have we heard that one? 3-4 seasons now? Why is it so hard for this team? Is the defense that complex? If it is, you’d never know it by the way opposing offenses have dissected it. The excuses are old.

Unpossible. The greatest head coach in the NFL would fix a problem as simple as communication issues on the defense.

After communication errors in 2024, Steelers defenders see broader picture

Communication Issues Circa 2024

Communication issues on defense

Communication Issues Circa 2023

The "communications" fig leaf has been played year after year to brush away the fact the Steelers defense has had massive problems the past 5 seasons. 2021, terrible against the run (last in the NFL). 2022, terrible against the pass (13th worst in NFL). 2023, terrible overall (12th worst total yards). 2024, terrible against the pass (8th worst in NFL) and imploded last 6 games.

2025? 4th worst overall, 5th worst against the run.

It's not going to change. Why would it? The guy in charge is not going to change and he will continue to trot out bullshit about communication week after week and year after year. Why not? He is earning $10 million per year to repeat the same failures he has shown the past five seasons.

It's gonna be a long season. His at least .500 record will end this year. Then what? I'm coming out for the game against the Stains in a couple weeks, we'll have a great time regardless of the pathetic product they put on the field. It's a shame how far this franchise has fallen under this ownership and regime. They're an embarrassment. Sadly, even if they tank, I have zero confidence they would get the draft right anyways.

Only faint hope we have is that Tomlin steps down after this season and they massage his exit.

There's no chance of Coach Tomlin stepping down until he takes over the most consecutive seasons without a losing record streak and believe me the Rooneys want him to have it....if nothing else for personal reasons. And you know what? Hes going to get it. If he didnt lose with Rudolph and Hodges hes never going to lose. Y'all might as well suck it up and come along for the ride.

Admittedly if he does have a losing season between now and then his head goes on the chopping block if its coupled with further lack of playoff success, but I dont see it happening. I dont see him losing when he had quite literally the worst QB room in the history of football...as a matter of fact he was one victory from going to the playoffs that season. After he gets the streak though i think they'll do what you said and hopefully he complies if there's clearly no light at the end of the tunnel.

His at least .500 isnt ending this year. The greatest chance of that happening was when he was stuck with Hodges and Rudolph in his QB room. You'll never see a worse combo of QBs then that although PIckett, Trubisky, and Rudolph were pretty close. If it didnt happen with Hodges/Rudolph its never happening.

Said he was ok with the OL and that he saw an improvement with Broderick Jones.
Yeah, he only gave up one sack instead of three sacks like the prior week. Didn’t mention he was one of the worst graded OL for this game by PFF.
What the **** was he watching. Warren averaged 3.4 yards per carry. Rodgers was getting pressure all day.
Then to the defense. He actually made excuses can you imagine that. He said we have a lot of new players. We have some injuries. Then said they have to stay pretty basic with the schematics since the new guys are still learning it.
This is just more Tomlin bs! New guys! Look at Parsons in GB! The Packers know how to use him and they literally only had a few days to prepare him.
Injuries! BS! Every team experiences injuries. Have your backups prepared and ready to play.
Schematics! Like his defensive schemes are so sophisticated. More BS!
Also said his defense wore down toward the end of the game. More excuses!
Some NFL analysts were talking this morning about how the Steelers do not disguise their coverages. That OCs know how to manipulate these coverages.
Like I said in the summer, same ****,new year. Wash, rinse and repeat.
You must didnt watch the All 22? There's were so many missed opportunities by Roger's you would have thought he was a rookie playing in his first game. He didnt do his OL a bunch of favors in the game.

He wasn’t great
He wasn’t awful

But PFF stats blow and should never be referenced in trying to make a point. Those stats are the biggest pile of garbage in football, an even bigger pile of garbage than the Steelers defense.
I couldn't agree more with that, PFF had Rodgers ranked as one of the worst QB's in the NFL after the Jets game, LOL.

Sad thing is how consistently awful they are.

I’ll take a casual football watcher’s observations as holding more weight than any PFF stat 8 days a week.

Never trust a career Bengal player’s ability to put out a winning product 🤣

I do agree Jones did better, but it was a very low bar. I think the defensive subs played as well as the "starters" had been. I mean they went right down the field on the first drive in both games. The ST mistake was costly, but we were outgained almost 2-1. If it wasn't for a great effort by Warren on one playwe would have had less than 200yrds of offense. I didn't mind the punt on 4th and 1 although it goes against "we don't live in our fears." Our line / short yardage is not good and if we got stuffed people would complain about that. Tomlin is very good at picking out 1 or 2 mistakes and totally ignoring the big picture issues. I don't believe he is totally oblivious just doesn't seem to care enough to fix them

I can honestly say I've never went to PFF's website once. The fan in Pittsburgh use to have a guy on from PFF every week.

Who are you? And yes, I still stand by that argument but why are you chasing me with that in another thread is a whole other discussion that you should take to therapy.
I'm not chasing you in any thread. you brought up delulu and i pointed the mirror at yourself. I dont even know if I've ever responded to a single post you've made prior to the "delulu" comment. Somebody asked what happened to Jonnu Smith in the last game in another thread and I referred them to you since I knew you said he was a #2 (which he isnt)...but i've never addressed you directly about it until now so stop with the bytching acting like its more then what it is. Im simply saying your delulu comment seems a awful lot like the pot calling the kettle black. I appreciate the fact you acknowledge your delusionment though.

His at least .500 record ended in 2021 when they went to a 17 game schedule.
Only winning seasons since then!
That can only mean Tomlins gotten better!

the only bitching I see around here is done by you. I don't know what you are saying about tomlin, I'm pretty clear on where I stand regarding him, he's over his head and shouldn't be our Head Coach. I don't bash him continually nor criticize those who do so you must be confusing me with someone else.

Now, go to therapy and move forward my fellow poster.

They were just talking about PFF on the radio, they gave Rodgers a higher rating vs Seattle than they did vs The Jets, LMAO!

That's how social outcasts try to make friends.

You should feel flattered.

It's much nicer than feeling like you are being stalked by a noob weirdo who rants on everyone.

Same, never been to their site
But see their stats quoted by others frequently

And many of them are so far off the mark it makes ya wonder if they are just trolling fans

Collinsworth is so bad I have to mute any of his games I’m watching…his stat site is no better than his piss poor commentator skills

....and once again open wide, swallow, rinse and repeat for you. You take a lot of pride in being the message board punk I see.

Litos, that guy likes to start **** and instigate. I wouldn’t waste my time with him. Not worth it!

I’m not an advocate of PFF at all. I listened to one of their guys on why Rodgers was ranked so low vs the Jets and it really didn’t make much sense.
He said in that game Rodgers didn’t have any splash throws that there was really nothing special about him in that game. Also, that he almost threw an interception. The guy that was saying this played college ball at Kansas like that’s some big deal. It’s bs and most know it.
The only reason I mentioned it in my post to begin with is to highlight Broderick Jones’ poor play which he is playing badly.
Unfortunately a lot of analysts and such take stock in PFF. Wonder how they rate Tomlin?
