Cam can't make any promises at the moment. He's busy training to beat Joey Chestnut's hot dog challenge. Looks formidable. Can we get more promises from TJ and Cam too about how it's all gonna get fixed? All these promises warm my heart.

What especially gets me Drink is that TE’s have had their way with Pittsburgh since the early days of Tommy boy chucking the pigskin to the Gronk. Whenever they needed big plays, when they needed to get serious the TE has always destroyed Pittsburgh. Remember when we rarely ever let a100 yard rushing game? I always laughed. If I was opposing coach I would just have throw against us 90% of the time. The difference is now we have regressed even more. We can’t stop the run either.Tomlin’s Tuesday press conference talked about change is coming. I don’t remember the wording of the question, one he would normally side step, but he directly answered it (something he normally diodn’t do in the past).
I think we will see a little change, but NOT the overnight fix we all want.

I wonder if scheme has anything to do with the lack of success.

I wonder if scheme has anything to do with lack of success. OHHH, thanks for clearing that up, I must've taken his quote out of context. He mieant he’s a better coverage LB than Jason Worilds…the best out of him vs Worilds
Check…so he’s better than an old man Jehova’s witness.
Got it Peyton! You may be right.
1) Queen is partly responsible.Queen isn't responsible
Tomlin cannot cover
1) Queen is partly responsible.
2)Tomlin is responsible for putting players on the field that can cover. And drawing up the schemes to put those players in a successful situation.
Settle down, Mrs. Tomlin, your son deserves every bit of criticism he receives.Tomlin is responsible for everything. Advertising, office staff, insurance, scouting , the draft, development, mess hall KP, locker room cleaning & laundry, pass blocking, run blocking, rooster blocking
Exactly, where are the three biggest DL we have stopping the run on the way to the QB??Same as last week, our O will need to put up at least 30 to have a chance. Our 2 biggest weaknesses on D are against the run and covering TE's. Covering WR's isn't very good either. The Colts have one of the top 5 RB's and receiving TE's in the NFL right now. Are they going to change to zone coverage or something else?
P.S. Make this make sense. They used the 3 OLB's in the game at the same time last week, but they only had 1 DL. SMH!! Using 2 DL and 2 undersized OLB's as their only pass rushers never works so how will 1 DL and 3 undersized OLB's work any better? Their D was best the weeks they sent more 5-man rushes, and that is pretty much what they need to do, but not by making your porous run D even smaller.
Yes because some rando on the www said soSettle down, Mrs. Tomlin, your son deserves every bit of criticism he receives.
We're all randos, doofusYes because some rando on the www said so

Stopping the TE was why we drafted Shazier. It was why we traded up and drafted Bush. It was why we signed Big mouth over ******* rated Patrick Queen to a huge contract. It was why we played Fitzpatrick out of position. It’s why we drafted Wilson. All of these guys with speed to supposedly be able to cover the more athletic TE pass catchers. HmmmI wonder if scheme has anything to do with the lack of success.
In the TJ Watt glory years (seems just like it was yesterday) the passing defense wasn’t terrible. It seems our whole passing D to have success relies on pressure from our Ends. It has masked our DB defense for years. When the big boy QB teams come to town,in big important games (playoffs) our pass D has faltered for years and years. HmmmI wonder if scheme has anything to do with lack of success.
394,395,369,372,248,470,454.
The yards per game we have given up this season. And the big boys are coming. Our once proud Defense.
Our passing defense is in shambles. Our running defense is in shambles.
Hmmm. I wonder if all these old players we signed well past their prime will discover the fountain of youth in the later half of our schedule,in the cold rainy days coming.
It's fatally flawed and has been since 2010.GREAT post Steelmann, thanks for all the great ones along the way.!!!
I hear everything you are saying. DK Sports Daily Shot is where I got the “change” statement from.
I’m with you and know that UNLESS there is a “Dick LeBeau” type change, this defense is not going to become a world-beater under the Austin / tomlin duo. Neither can even remotely come close to that kind of defensive knowledge to match today’s defensive criteria of being a good defense.
They blitzed, but had no rhyme to the Blitz. taking a DL out so only one DL and adding a third OLB, then rushing those 4,……. Puts the undersized OLBs at a deficit and hard to overcome. TJ Watt has slowed, but also the scheme hasn’t assisted him at all, the rest of the players / team as well.
It’s the scheme that is the problem and the Tomlin 15yrs - currently has been to stubborn to change that.
Like I said, we may see some small change, but not enough to immediately be fixed.
Tomlin is a good motivator so add that aspect to the change as well. More fight in the man.

Agreed with everything until that last line about Tomlin being a good motivator
I’ve gotten to believe he’s not even close to mediocre as a motivator
The guys always come out flat and don’t seem to wake up until the 2nd quarter, if they do at all
I can’t remember the last time these guys came out of the tunnel playing like their hair was on fire
I think the motivator thing may just be another common misconception about Tomlin cuz I never see him firing the troops up or guys going extra hard “for coach”
He’s great at creating an environment of complacency imho, that’s not motivation imo
