Very true. Winning the AFC East was pretty easy with the Jets and Fins in his division.

You can do that with the best QB of all time. They kinda dominated the AFC in general...sort of like Jordan and the Bulls did and LeBron dominated the Eastern Conference in their hay days. Sometimes you just end up in the wrong era. It is what it is.

The above is not acceptable. Especially since I am told at the beginning of every season by both ownership and the head coach that the goal every year is a championship.

Buffalo also weren't much chop for most of Belichick's time in New England, whereas the Steelers have had Baltimore slugging it out with them for the AFC North most of Tomlin's time. But, yeah, when it comes to playoffs, Steelers 1 and done, whilst being blown off the park, in their last 5 playoff seasons (Jacksonville the margin may only have been three points but the game was basically over long before the Steelers scored a few consolation touchdowns).

So what you’re saying is he’s slightly above average in terms of coaching? Maybe in that 12th-14th best coach. Not too shabby in a 32 coach league.

1. Tomlin inherited a great team, culture, and coaches, had his best seasons
2. As those players/coaches left, the team, culture, coaches, playoff success have sucked and still sucks.
3. Only the great Marvin Lewis went more seasons without a playoff win without losing his job. No team has given up as many points in the playoffs over a 6 game stretch than the Steelers under Tomlin. YAY no losing seasons, that's all that matters, YAY!
Any football fan that watched during the Cowher years and during the Tomlin years knows that Cowher was the superior coach, and it's not even that close. He won in the post season with so-so QB's and he turned the roster over and into a contender a few time during his tenure.

I mean, I'd still take Tomlin over the dumb**** in Miami or anyone Cleveland has hired in the last 20 years.
Thing with Tomlin, his floor is pretty high (9 wins) but his ceiling is kinda low (11 wins and a WC loss).
