Bears week - my checklist is empty

Which Caleb do we see???

1. The Mahomes-like QB that diced up Dallas?
2. The QB that prefers to paint his fingernails to inspire good game play?
3. The QB that will have mommy in the stands - just in case he loses?
4. The QB that would rather go home and cuddle with his dog instead of sitting thru post-game interviews?

5. The QB who will throw for 600 yards in the first half, then sit the second while we turn over rocks in the lab and unleash hell above the neck, if you will.
 
Well he is good at play action passing (this season) which works if your running game is working.

He has been a pretty decent game manager with a low interception tally.

He hasn’t been a gun slinger about 233 yards a game .

His accuracy is only so so averaging close to 60 percent completion on the season. Bears lost to Detroit , Minnesota once and Baltimore.

Bears have a good running game so really shutting that down or trying to should be priority number 1.

Caleb’s best TD performances came against defensive challenged Cincy and Dallas.

So it will be more what the Steelers do or don’t do in determining his day tallies .

Bears will want to control the time of possession and are very interception capable on D.

Which might be more of a concern with Rudy guiding the ship.

Knowing the Steelers teeter tottering approach. W L W L… Houston we might have a problem.

Williams' accuracy has decreased in recent weeks and he holds onto the ball longer than most QBs. Our pass rushers will have a chance to get to him, they'll need to finish plays and not let Williams create with his legs.

I haven’t pinpointed if he is just who he is or if the Bears are holding him back from being all that he can be. What is your thoughts?

Anddd as I mentioned earlier we are in the L side of W L W…..it is time for another flipper flopper.

Then there is Ben Johnson seems like very X and O capable…
 
History is not on our side in this one. It's on the road vs a team they rarely play,which means the coaches will have to put extra work into gameplan A and hope it prevails. They never have a plan B, so I'm not that optimistic overall.

Probably a down to the wire last second field goal win or lose game. That's pretty much the standard.

Ya know what’s odd, when we had great teams back in the 70’s we always had trouble winning in these places.
Maybe it’s the fans huh? Those people especially in Philly are mental. I remember them throwing bottles and batteries and hell, the ******** even threw snowballs at Jolly Ole Saint Nick.
 
The Bears and Steelers are both good at forcing TO’s, the Bears lead the league with 22, Steelers not far behind with 18. Caleb can make spectacular plays out of structure, but in structure he’s more like Justin Fields. Game plan should be a containment rush, don’t let him break the pocket, play zone coverage to prevent big runs if he does, and also to try to confuse him with coverage.

Both teams have fraudulent records, IMO, and history is against us here and they have the better offense. Take the Bears and the points.

He played this way in college too, NFL defenders are just a lot better than what he saw. Plus, he has one of the best offensive minds in the league coaching him.

There was a good article (and video) of the defense prepping for Williams ability to escape the pocket with Plumlee as scout team QB. One of the focus points was forcing fumbles as Plumlee spins out of pressure.
 
Steelers Head coaches vs the Bears-

The Steelers lost their first 10 games to the bears, not getting a win until 1958 under Buddy Parker

( all coaches prior to Parker (0-10))
Parker was 1-1-1 vs the bears
Bill Austin was 1-0 vs them
Chuck Noll was 2-4 vs them
Bill Cowher was 3-1
Mike Tomlin is 1-3 vs them. His one win cane off of a last minute field goal after Chicago took the lead with 1:47 left

All time we are 8-19-1 vs the bears.
We have only beat them in Chicago once, in 1995... in a game where Neil O'Donnel had to mount a 4th quarter comeback, scoring with with 1:06 left to tie it and winning in OT... so not a lot of good history here

They've only played in Chicago 2 times since 1995...it would be you that brings up a stat that looks like the end of the world, but is far from it. Way to go on sensationalizing a stat.

This little habit of holding onto the ball a ting longer may bring out a huge day for TJ Watt. Herbig should capitalize as well. throw in a couple relentless BLITZs (our’s or defensive) and we may even rattle him into interceptions.

I think our “D” can slow their run and if so,…… should roll a big day.

Yup

It all depends which Steelers D steps off the bus

Will it be:
1) The historic D that plays 15 yards off on 3rd and short, can’t stop a 4th down conversion, has wide gaps all over their zone, creates minimal pass rush pressure and allows another QB to look like a HOF candidate
2) The fortunate sun shining on a dog’s *** D that gets every possible break and bounce of the ball and is fortunate enough for another +5 TO margin to mask the 400+ yards and 35 min TOP they allow
3) A defense that earns their money and actually looks the part of the highest paid D in the league applying consistent pressure and disrupting both the pass and run game

Hard to say who steps off the bus any given week but this win is pretty crucial and we really need “3” to show up for this one
 
After further reading the bears defense have given up 5.2 average against the run in jumbo packages…

You know what to do Steelers run run run and control the TOP….

so, man coverage, force Caleb out of the pocket where he's less comfortable, all out blitz and don't shift coverage after snap.
