yeah but with grumpy edgy Mike comes cocky Mike, now that everyone will be talking about how great we are, instead of how bad we are, we'll see what happens.
Good news is that if Denver has to come here, we'll smash them, if SD has to fly across country will beat them and if Houston has to play here we'll shut them out, that's what's on Pittsburgh sports radio right now. So that's 4 of the 7 teams down.
I believe Mike Tomlin is 15-4 after a bye week.A rested Tomlin team is a rusty Tomlin team.
It is more than that. Our O was in the rut because it seemed our game plan went back to Tomlinball. Now it is more open. Mixing things up in the run and pass. On D we are also doing things a bit differently. Playing more aggressive. Not giving them the entire middle of the field on every play. My take anyway.
Now they're talking the Steelers hosting the AFCCG.
Stop being a bunch of sissies and just enjoy it for what it is and see what happens. The Steelers have actually been fun to watch for a few weeks.
Meh, Noll was here slightly longer but for much of his time they were playing 14 game seasons.Tomlin is now 1 behind Noll in regular season wins
Well saidFULLy agree here but would like to add
1). the injury to watt seems to have catapulted the tomlin into being way more agressive instead of sitting back and waiting for the watt majic. In a sense, Watt’s injury has been a good thing…. Twisted but a way to look at it.
2) the tomlin still has the conservative bug, he went turtle ball both times we went up by 12. You will go nowhere if that continues to happen.
3). The middle of the field has been included in the offensive game plan, it has showed these last three games.
4). Aaaa-Ron has played as well as a 42 yr old can play. He has risen this junk offensive scheme to actually be a factor in opposing team’s game planning.
Thanks for you great post(s) stillwright,….. appreciate yaz

Also in his day there were between 7 and 9 future Hall of Fame head coaches on the sidelines every week. In Shades' era I got him, Belicheat, Hairball, and Andy Reid in the HOF and I can't think of anyone else.
My point is we just beat 3 non playoff teams and suddenly people are putting us in the AFCCG at home, saying we will smash Denver and SD if they come here, we'd shut out Houston if we played them. We lost the last 4 games we played to teams that are in the playoffs (Buffalo, Bears, GB, SD) I'm not on that bus yet, they've looked better absolutely, beat Baltimore at Baltimore is always fun. It's still 3 wins vs non playoff teams, 1 of those games we had a stupid rule save us where we were outgained 200-10 in the 4th qtr with an injured Lamar, then a penalty that isn't called that often save us in the other game, and Miami and Tua never win in the cold, and that team quit.If we make it that far, we have as good a chance as anyone to gain #7

We played 2 desperate teams fighting for their playoff lives and won. The Ravens would more than likely be a playoff team if Lamar was not injured. Both teams are still technically alive, but their losses to us put their chances on life support. I think the Detroit game was more impressive. They have one of the best offenses in the league. 2 WRs in the top 10 in TDs and yrds, and Gibbs who was top 10 in rushing along with over 500yrds receiving. The D shut these guys down for the most part. Of Course none of this means anything come playoff time though. Hopefully if we make it we do not play passive. If we come out aggressive we have a shot. If not we will get blown out yet againThat's where I am. It was a great win in Detroit, but the last 3 wins have all been against non playoff teams, the last two playoff teams we played we lost.
Detroit game was impressive for sure, the most impressive so far. We still gave up 200 yards rushing to Baltimore and 200 yards in the 4th qtr with an dinged up Lamar and won because a dumb rule. Miami just quit, and they and Tua never win in the cold, let along single digit wind chills. I've seen this before, just last year we were 10-3, and everyone saying how dangerous we were, and how good we were, then we played real playoff teams and got crushed, then totally embarrassed in the playoffs. Even the Detroit game came down to a penalty that's not called all that often. We played 2 desperate teams fighting for their playoff lives and won. I like grumpy, edgy Mike more than complacent, calm Mike

Well, everyone that goes to the games needs to remember this.....
Every time they start a losing streak, say back to back games, is it on the fans that attend the games to get the FIRE TOMLIN chants going.
YOU have the power to right the ship!![]()
Belichick did the same from 2001-2019, nobody ever said a word about it, because it wasn't the ceiling.
Same goes for team competition. Current equality seems to be the normal and a much weaker game.
i think it is the Raiders & Steelers combined for 8 of the ten AFCCG. One team or the other or both made to the AFCCG in the 70s. you had the oilers / bengals were legit / . It wasn’t an easy division yet alone conference.
Tomlin’s win count isn’t nearly as impressive as Noll’s or Cowher for that matter as tomlin had a HOF QB near his entire career.
