F-I-R-E T-O-M-L-I-N!!!

That may or may not had an initial factor in the hiring but I doubt after the long tenure that the Rooney rule is a factor in determining should he stay or go now.

I would believe they are friends theory before I believe the Rooney rule theory.

My thoughts are they don’t want to fire him due to his regular season accomplishments over what us fans dislike beyond that.
I agree with you. I guess at this point I'm surprised it is even a narrative at all.

Media pushes any narrative they can find and fans sometimes follow suit.

As much as we want a change, I've personally accepted there isn't going to be one, so my mindset has changed from who should be the next head coach to what does Tomlin need on his staff and roster to get out of this decade of mediocrity.

That’s simple

He needs a good- at least competent DC
Position coaches who can develop-OL/QB
A franchise QB
At least 8 first rounders on the defense, no less than 10 day1 or 2 picks

That’s probably about it, and to then get out of his own way

None of the first 4 things happen until the last part happens and seeing how stubborn and how much of an egomaniac he is, that's probably never happening.

Considering 25% of the league is looking for a head coach, even if the Steelers get demolished on Monday, there's no chance ARII would fire Tomlin in this landscape.

that right there is what many over-look.

In this wagon of distress, there are many other teams looking for HC and the Rooney isn’t willing to do the work needed to single out the watered down availability of coaches.

the coaching competition is high and we seem to have a bashful leader not to wanting to participate until there is a more desirable scenario of success.

TRANSLAtION: Until he has a guaranteed option fall in his lap, he is not willing to stress is comfort zone.

He needs new sub-coaching and a willingness to understand there are smarter people in the room. He is smart, but hire people to do a job better than you can do it and trust them to do it.

Bill Cowher as a mentor.

I would have to say, if Smith leaves, the next offensive coordinator is directly tied into whether or not Aaron Rodgers stays or goes also.
If Aaron stays, I would have to believe that he would have a pretty significant say in who comes aboard
true and if Rodgers influences the hiring of a new OC that’s the best possible scenario besides Tomlin being gone, but the question would be how long Rodgers deliberates on his future-this all SHOULD move fast if Smith leaves after the season, but Rodgers and the Steelers both have a penchant for being anything but fast on things like this

Sheet don’t stop there have AA Ron give opinions on DCs too. 😀

He’s a POS if he doesnt walk away, IMO. So you are about to see the POS that he is, IMO.

He should have walked away last season another their collapse and didn’t. That is a big money train most wouldn’t hop off of it until influenced.

Rooney has to be the one to put his foot down.

I fully expect them to exercise his option by the end of the week, if not add a couple years. I really wish the man had the balls to go somewhere else and show us just how great he is.

Thats what he does. Tomlin is a dirtbag that hires yes men that cant take his job, uses them up to tread water and then moves on to other yes men. He’s a lowlife.
He may need to go but calling him a lowlife and dirt bag? Once again you have some serious issues. You need to step back and look at yourself. I don’t think it is healthy to carry the anger you do. We can argue Tomlin’s coaching all you want but he isn’t a dirtbag or lowlife.

Be funny if Artie Smith gets hired by the Titans and finishes next season with a better record than the Steelers and/or a playoff win.
I don’t expect my team in any sport to win every game every year but no playoff wins in 9 years, and most of the losses were blowouts, is not acceptable.

The cumulative scores of the last 7 playoff appearances, 260 to 137, with only the Jags game in 2017 a single digit loss.
Art II needs to retire, and the entire coaching crew, save perhaps Bubbles needs to be gone, if not expect more of the same.
