F-I-R-E T-O-M-L-I-N!!!

Ok. But the same guy yelling at coaches, who has zero chance of being pulled, all the sudden when coaches say don't throw over the middle he's a 3rd round rookie trying to please.

Tony Dungy just now on Dan Patrick.

"I interviewed Tomlin before the Raven game, I sat in Art Rooney's office for 30 minutes. (Laughing) Mike Tomlin is not in trouble."

So that was even if we lost. Tomlin, as we all knew will NEVER be fired. Rooney is a disgrace.

It's his job until he no longer wants it, 16 million dollars a year with no pressure.

If the Steelers stay with Tomlin and the next Ravens coach gets them back to the top of the division next year, the minority owners should try to force Rooney out.

I’ve never, ever seen anything like this in sports or even in business.
A HC who can repeatedly turn in mediocre results, has a horrendous playoff record, hasn’t won a playoff game in eight seasons.
How does he seem to enjoy little accountability and be given a lifetime job? That is just nuts to me!
Just look at Steve Barsotti the owner in Baltimore.
Didn’t hesitate to move on from John Harbaugh who has a very similar regular season record to Tomlin. Has a better playoff record and won a SB and playoff game more recently.
Please don’t say because he has Lamar Jackson.
Remember Tomlin and the Steelers passed over him so they could draft the infamous Terrell Edmonds who had a third round grade.
This version of the Rooney family has badly tarnished the Steeler brand all in the interest of holding on to Mike Tomlin. Crazy!

There's a good chance, riding a 35 season playoff drought.

There’s a chance I might witness this, but I may not be Cognizant enough to know.!!!

Salute the nation

Same reason he's immune from the national criticism that similar coaches like Harbaugh, McCarthy, and Peyton receive.

Tomlin says it's all just entertainment. Results don't matter. Fan are too impatient! F this dirtbag.

I'm gonna live the dream and make a ton of money, enrich my entire family, etc. and you guys pipe down and just look at it like it's WWE !

“In terms of him being let go, unfortunately, I think it’s just a component of today’s sport culture,” Tomlin said. “And so, there have been many examples of that. It’s unfortunate, but I’m sure that he’s going to move on, and if he chooses to coach again, I’m sure he will and I’m sure he’ll be very successful at doing so. But more than anything, I just think it’s a larger example of today’s sport culture in terms of not a lot of patience in the entertainment component of what it is that we do. There’s just not a longevity. I’m sure we’d all like to be Don Shula and Tom Landry, but I think those days are gone.”

This is Tubby Smith all over again. He won it all in his first year with Pitino's players, did nothing the rest of the time, bad recruits, bad assistants and even started his uncapable son at point guard. Towards the end he said "I thought 20 wins was considered a good basketball season"!? smh

Considering 25% of the league is looking for a head coach, even if the Steelers get demolished on Monday, there's no chance ARII would fire Tomlin in this landscape.

Which would be dumb of him.

The Steelers job would be minimum the 2nd best job open, probably the best job open.

What coach wouldn’t want to go somewhere he would probably be allowed to stay 20+ years that always wins? Tomlin has also ascended to the 4th highest paid NFL coach despite his mediocrity so there’s the financial side of it. The only negative is a lack of long term QB and a high draft pick to get one

Having said that you’re right that’s exactly one of the reasons Rooney won’t decide to move on

As much as we want a change, I've personally accepted there isn't going to be one, so my mindset has changed from who should be the next head coach to what does Tomlin need on his staff and roster to get out of this decade of mediocrity.

The staff changes Tomlin needs will never happen because he controls that hiring and is terrible at it.

I heard the Titans want to talk to Arthur Smith to be HC. My fear is Tomlin downgrades his OC if Smith leaves

8 teams looking for a coach? not the year to lose your coach round 1 or 2

take it to the bank, it's a stone cold lock to happen.

Strike while the iron is hot.

I just happened to hear Whitlock talk about the Harbaugh firing. He connected it to Tomlin and made the statement that Rooney has been trapped by the Rooney Rule and will hasn't fired him due to that. But now that Harbaugh has been fired, it opens the door for the Steelers to fire Tomlin.

The whole thing seemed like twisted logic to me. But the part I'm stuck on is the idea that, after 19 years of loyalty to Tomlin, in spite of his lack of playoff success, there would even be a racial element to this. What is the level of loyalty to show you aren't a racist? 25 years? More?
