Many of you are correct about Mikey. Add liar to that list of things you suspected. And as Deebo says that whole "We don't pay attention to outside noise" Yeah, the guy spent time he should have been working on social media and the sports shows on TV absorbing that noise. No wonder we had the playoff outcomes we had.

Harrison pretty much verifies what some of us already know: He was a good coach, not great. Won with Cowher's team and getting rid of Lebeau is what turned our defense into the hot mess it was for many years including the killer B days, and of course this years "historic" defense.

When he talks about the text messages from 2018 that illustrate Tomlin's pettiness he is referring to Lamar Woodley when he says "Wood."

Listen when he explains the difference in Cowher and Tomlin as far as drafting.

Poor Haden looks as uncomfortable as someone can get once Deebo spills the beans. 5:00 " Oh no..." LOL.

I need to look at the home page here before I post. This was already covered..sort of. You really need to watch the first 20 minutes though.

"We playing tic-tac-toe, because the other guys see it."

Right. It sucks when other teams can tell what is up just by a glance at the line up.

Tomlin never got this.

"I'm cleaning house to" to get rid of the stink of Tomlin. Significant.

Deebo needs to let Hayden talk. He interrupts him constantly.

"I don't want teachers. I want professors of the game." This

Look, Tomlin had some fatal flaws develop

None were more problematic than his ego running unchecked

The guy had one of the hottest starts to a coaching career ever. Those first 4 years his numbers were so good that even after a horrid near decade long playoff winless streak 19 years later, his playoff success rate was still mostly"average" ..

He made a few adjustments when he first got here and save for the Oline, they all worked great.
That bolstered his ego and he began micromanaging more and more...

That pettiness started showing more and more
Tomlin's doghouse was a real thing.

Adaptive adjustments went out the window for a more rigid adherence to the gameplan.. this led to losses like the Tebow fiasco and several of the huge regular season upsets...

Tomlin was a 1990's/2000's type coach...

He still was relying on players playing to be the driving force of winning... He coached to shorten the game, keep everything close, and let the playmakers win it for you in the last 2 minutes

Almost every other team had moved to a more technical coaching strategy... where precision plays based in physics and psychology mitigated the talent gaps ... Brock Purdy aint a great QB... but you dont need one when the first read is so wide open that the playmaker skill guys like Ben had just isnt a requirement.. its a luxury...

Moreover, Tomlin went to the well way too often with his favorite schemes and strategies... players and coaches on the other team would be able to easily determine what the most likely plays were going to be in super critical situations...

Honestly Tomlins success bred his failures
Had he had a real bad season, as every new coach usually does sometime in those first ten years, maybe he gets humbled a bit and grows as a coach.

I think Cowher having that bad stretch in 98-00 was good for his later coaching philosophies. Tomlin at worse had 4 8-8 seasons he could blame on injuries... he never really had to dramatically reassess.

That pretty much confirms it. Tomlin does listen to outside noise. The growing criticism of him was too much to bear.
Most likely the reason he quit and chose not to have a press conference. He’s a bitter man.

This is a really good analysis. Tomlin’s been a good coach from start to finish, he just didn’t evolve and got stuck in his ways as the rest of the league changed.

Arrogant more so than anything. All that Emperors New Clothes talk from the national sports media made him believe his poop didn't smell.

Why would he have a PC where his flaws and obvious failings could come up? I'm just talking about the football aspect, not the rumors about his personal life.

I'm not saying anything harrison says is inaccurate

but a guy who left with bad feelings toward the team is going to have a slanted viewpoint of everything related to the team
Harrison flat out admits his relationship with Tomlin and it's clear he holds a grudge. Kind of crazy to hear this talk and consider how he exited the team, yet he actively roots for them now and is a face on the video board for every game.

Tomlin brought in older vets at certain positions because they knew the league and brought about aspects that Tomlin has always failed to achieve in coaching.

Hopefully this all changes
Because he can't develop players, moreover if they let a young guy develop at a key position they will make some mistakes and the Steelers might not get to that precious 9 win threshold.

I’ve always felt Debo was a straight shooter, CRUDE / forceful / and intimidating at times, but still pretty much say it as you see it sort of guy.

He may have a grudge, but I don’t think he is outwardly lying about the situation. Some may be a little overdramatized, but the core truth is still there.

Salute the nation

My guess too. Another thing to consider is that hearing from the players who love him AND hearing from the others is what will give us outsiders a more legit perspective.

You have to respect what Harrison said about LeBeau and Butler making him the best player he could be. Haden can't even remember the name of his last DB coach in Pittsburgh...how sad is that? And the philosophic change defensively after Tomlin got rid of Dick speaks for itself.

I thought it was good insight from a guy who is able to articulate the differences between Tomlin and Cowher, having played for both of them. A lot of the dudes singing Tomlin's praises currently have never played for another head coach.

It's hard to deny when Tomlin showed us peeks of it even though he tried to hold it in.

" That's why I'm well compensated." Who says that other than an arrogant egotistical person who wants to rub it in the face of working stiffs who made him rich? When have you heard any coach say anything remotely like that?

The kisses blown to the stands.. that was " kiss my ***" for those who are slow or blinded by bias. Directed again at the people who enriched him.

There is more, but I digress.

He has receipts, but I hear what you are saying.

I feel Harrison has issues with Tomlin alone and not the franchise.

Tomlin is egotistical. He also had Troy of all people leaving on bad terms.
