Steelers hiring McCarthy

If this allows McCarthy to bring in his own staff and rebuild this team I’m OK with it.

Not sure I’m happy if Rodgers comes back though. He can’t run and is 1 dimensional back there.

The standard is the standard with the Pittsburgh Steelers ownership

This is terrible and makes no sense at all. He has to be considered a stopgap for the Steelers unless he plans on coaching until he is 80. If they bring back Rodgers, I will scream. They have to move forward.

The only place this makes any sense at all is if they plan on having him coach up Howard and possibly another rookie QB either this year or next.

Not what I expected. And certainly not a coach with a 5-year+ leash if things don't look better on the field.

Interesting twist to our legacy as a team, because I don't think this is a 15 year hire under any circumstance. When it comes to coaches, we are now like everyone else. And I think we need to hold him to the same standard as the rest of the league.

His job is to find and develop a quality QB in his 20's. If it doesn't happen by year 5, he should be gone.

Wow! Well, I believe most of us were afraid of what Art would do. Here’s the proof!
Stupid, panic hire. 62-63 year old HC twice fired.
Rooney running it back!
I now count down the time until he steps down he has held us back with his mediocre approach .

I'm not giving him 5 years. He's going to need to develop a QB real fast. I'm saying that as someone who isn't completely angry with this hire.

He was 1 of the 3 actual possibilities. I expected them to wait a little longer to pull the trigger since one of the three candidates can’t in person interview yet.

Did you see his last season? He one one playoff game with those 12 game plus wins.

We need someone to actually make this team into a contender again not someone that will win an occasional playoff win.

This was actually one of the worst choices they could have picked.

Just a mediocrity approach. Pathetic

I saw him without Prescott for most of his last season.

He won't have the meddling of Jerry Jones to worry about anymore, and the Steelers are his dream job in a lot of ways.

He might end approaching it with the energy and open-mindedness of a younger coach, and surprise a lot of people, including yourself.

We'll specifically see how does compared to the Rams wonder boys whenever/wherever they get their opportunities.

This to me, is the equivalent of signing Rodgers last year. Looks like we may have him back this year now?
Which would be a backwards move to what needs to happen. Try to sign Malek Willis to a big but escape easy contract. Other then that role with Will Howard and a Flacco type.

Art II is so, so much like his grandfather it’s scary.
This is the sort of move the old man would make back in the day.
McCarthy is the first HC since Buddy Parker in the mid sixtys that was a head coach previously.
Art has absolutely zero business running this organization.
He is his grandfather’s clone. Both really nice men but totally clueless when it comes to running an NFL franchise.

I actually think there was a relatively large gap between McCarthy and the other candidates actually interviewed. As far as the entire interview process, extremely poor from the Steelers.

Buckle in you are not going to like the outcome.

My always negative brother who wanted Tomlin gone in the worst way is surprisingly ecstatic with this hire.
Did he hit his head ? Evaluate him for a concussion and monitor.
