2026 Free Agency Begins Thread

The one thing I would like to explore, whether it be the FA market or a mid to later draft pick is a more of an electric PR/ KR .
Sometimes these are Backup WR’s or DB’s. I have no idea if Roman Wilson could take on this role…….he did have experience while playing with Michigan. One of the many things I disagreed with our former coach was not giving him a chance returning kicks. We have been sorely lacking in this position for years.

I think they are already looking into it. They had a combine meeting with Iowa's Kaden Wetjan. He was the Jet Award winner for returning kicks last year in college. Let's see if he comes in on a top 30. Probably a day 3 guy.

I have no idea why they would do this. A 3rd isn’t chicken feed. I read up about him….and while he’s got a good story and seems like a good guy I go on the bears forum. The general consensus is he will always be a backup with an arm that barely throws the 15 yard outs. Why would we give up a 3rd? We have lots of picks,so let’s just throw one away? If injury is better I’d rather Skylar than this. We’ve seen what Rudy has…..as far as I’m concerned they could let him go as well. Someone can explain this one to me…..making sense.

Must not be seeing a lot out of the 2026 draft class. Only thing i can think of.

This is Adam Ferrell's profile on his X account:

"NFL Insider & Reporter • Home of the Adam Bomb
Host of Inside the Offseason with Adam Ferrell • Turn on notifications for NFL Parody updates"

I'd take his post as being one of his NFL Parody updates.

I'm glad some team got suckered in to signing Willis so the nonsensical talk around here can stop.

Look at those suckers trying to fix their broken QB situation…the Steelers laugh at sucker teams that think QB is a vital position in this league…

Suckers!!!!

We’ll be busy in the dinosaur graveyard laughing our way to our next one foot in the grave dinosaur QB

Zachariah Branch is my choice for KR/PR/WR.

Dude is shifty with great RAC ability
If he’s there in the mid 50s he could potentially solve slot/WR3/returner roles and round out the group quite nicely. With two bigs outside he’d be a nice add.

Zero faith Wilson is that guy as a 3rd rounder entering his 3rd season and can’t sniff the field in the **** room we had last year.

The Tomlin regime has effed so many young guys over the past couple years that it's hard to get a read on the talent of guys like Austin, Wilson, Johnson, Big Dot, etc. I think OTAs and TC under the new set of coaches will enable a much better evaluation, even quickly.

I'd like to see Austin in a better system, but it seems he is almost out the door.

Reports on Wilson were he will need to be put in motion and schemed open in the NFL

If scheming open is a requirement
A) ya know the player is useless under Mike
B) the player is a marginal player by NFL standards

Hopefully MM can polish up the turd and make him not the complete waste of pick he has been thus far.

Yesterday was a pretty good day for Khan and McCarthy. It's obviously early in the game to see how it all pans out but I liked the start of it.
I grade the pickup of MPJR an A, Dean a B and Dowdle a B-/C+. I am confident that they-along with Weidel will find a good replacement for Seumalo, McCarthy has a history of rolling out very good offensive lines.
Listenting to the Poni/Mueller show yesterday, Mueller brought up a point that may have been brushed off was that Jamel Dean wasn't anywhere on Tomlin and then Colbert's radar in 2019 and that he did have the best metrics of the CBs of that draft class.
CM also brought up that Tomlin had a knack for signing free agents that were on his draft wish list. As much as I have been watching HCMT sign free agents, I guess I never really keyed in on it.
Now the thing I won't miss is the signing of free agents who have torched you in a game (with the exception of MPJR)

Its possible that McCarthy sees a diamond in the rough there...
but the more likely scenario is that the Bears just signed a vet qb backup for 2 years and have a dedicated starter and are looking to drum up interest in trading for Bagent.. so they leaked a juicy rumor

We dont have a QB starter on the roster so we make a convenient rumor target... like agents and teams have used us for since Ben retired...

Pretty sure that was a fake account

Bageant is Skyler Thompson

Zero chance a third for him unless you are the Stains 🤣

Sooo we are absolutely gonna be looking for IOL help... any interest in brining back the 28 yr old James Daniels? He should be cheap coming off back to back freak injuries...
