Over the cap.com has the Steelers at a bit under 14 m under the cap as of today.

No franchise qb on board. That is a bit scary.
I know they can rework contracts and cut players but man that is rough

We won't have a franchise QB contract to wory about for quite some time. Even if we manage to find one in the draft the next few years, or Howard turns out to be the guy, we won't have that huge contract to worry about.

Rodgers played for 10m last year, there will be no Sam Darnold available next year, it'll be a vet this year (Rodgers or Cousins) on a cheap vet deal.

*edit sporttrac has us at just under 20m, and neither site is accounting for the $16m of unused space we will roll over from '25 (hasn't officially been announced is prob why).

But without having a qb shouldn't we be 30 or 40 mill under?

Nope, that's why having that franchise QB is a blessing and a curse, and why so many teams try to cash in while that QB is on the rookie contract. As soon as you have to pay a franchise QB, you lose a lot of players or the flexibility to sign who you want. Right now, Watt carries the largest cap hit, but compared to QB's he's the 11th highest cap hit, and it's 20m less than Tua, Baker, and Murray.

We should
DK and Pittman have a higher combined cap hit than Chase and Higgins.
Let that sink in
Cap hit, not contracts tho. It's how they manipulated the cap.

Chase was 4 years, 161m, 112m guaranteed.

Cap hits are 26m, 33m, 41m, 53m

Higgins was 4 years, 115m, 41m guaranteed

Cap hits are 24m, 26m, 31m, 33m.

Higgins and DK have similar cap hits, one is a WR1 for their team, the other WR2.
Pittman's contact numbers haven't been announced, so we don't know what his hits are. He was set to count 29m for indy, and we redid his contract. So let that sink in...

No. why should we? We don't have one and you have to spend to certain level. We can easily make a lot more space with the stroke of a pen. Cap is not an issue at all right now.If we draft a guy this year or next we get to go another 3 to4 years without having to worry about it.

DK + Pittman cap hit in 2026 is $55M.

Chase and Higgins cap hit in 2026 is $52.6M

That's still showing Pittman's cap hit per his Indy contract before the Steelers extension.

For some reason it seems year by year and components details for Pittman's extended Steelers contract are not yet public. Only the $59m total seems to be

Abstinence is the only way to avoid problems with The Clap .........just sayin

Coolie uses 12 mil, painted on latex. (Hand painted) (possibly Supe’s hand)

I know they can rework contracts and cut players but man that is rough Dudespin casino mi djeluje kao zanimljiva nova platforma s velikim izborom igara i solidnim bonusima. Ipak, treba biti oprezan zbog slabije licence i mogućih sporijih isplata, pa nije za svakoga.
The Steelers sitting at just under $14M in cap space without a clear franchise QB is definitely concerning. While restructures and cuts can free up room, it highlights how tight their flexibility is heading into the season. Building around uncertainty at quarterback makes the margin for error even smaller. The front office has tough decisions ahead, and fans are right to feel uneasy about the current cap situation and roster outlook.

Williamson had us way more than that on Friday.

Current

After an active free agency period and roster adjustments, the Steelers have around $27 million in overall cap space, ranking 16th in the NFL, while their top-51 cap space is estimated at $44.7 million, placing them 8th in the league in financial flexibility. This includes carryover from unused 2025 cap room and a recent $3.65 million salary cap credit from the NFL, likely related to player insurance proceeds or unachieved contract incentives

I went there and it says top 51 are only $281M and we have $27 in cap room.

Patrick Queen is still on the books and if he is cut that frees up $10 more million. Still not sure what they do with that. There are potentially some other restructures. The extension time period for guys in their last year of contracts ends September 1st for this team (we don't do mid-season extensions).

I think they are on top of the cap situation right now with room for Rogers if/when he decides to return.

Again... nothing about this off-season has really bothered me much. The roster is very young and also needs a lot of work to decide which young guys are keepers in McCarthy's system and which are losers. Then on the other side of the coin, we still have some very old veterans.

It's very evident there was a big "gap" in talent on this team based on poor drafts/planning in those last couple of Colbert/Tomlin years, culminating in the swing/miss on a 1st round QB.

Project 2027.

They have several extensions available to lower the cap if needed, also they can cut Malik Harrison (which I'd do before cutting queen) and I'm all for a round 2 or early 3rd (moving up) ILB.

The cap is well managed and it's the least of our worries. The main been finding a future starting QB
