When I did I say he wasn't? I never said he should play longer than he did.

And he's a year older, in your 40's that's a huge deal, in your 20's a year older doesn't mean much. He's an all time great QB no doubt, but he's way past his prime, bringing him back just wastes another year of Cam, TJ, Ramsey, DK, etc. and we'll probably draft near 20 again.I think Rodgers was fine as a team leader last year, but if he comes back we learn nothing about Howard or Allar. It also means they're probably drafting around 18-20 with this "deep" QB class coming up. Best case is the Steelers squeak into the playoffs and get blown out--sorry, until they do otherwise, it's hard to be more positive. Best case, well, there's options.
-Howard plays out of his mind and the Steelers win.
-Allar plays out of his mind and the Steelers win.
-Howard/Allar play well enough to show they can be a starter.
-Howard/Allar play poorly, giving the other a chance.
-Howard/Allar play poorly and we know the Steelers need to invest a first-round pick in a QB.

I just don't get how they were ok telling some of their franchise great players that it was time to move on, but they're letting Rodgers hang out and do what he wants.
Tomlin sucked, but he's gone it has nothing to do with him. No someone doesn't have to be a whipping boy if you're not winning it all, but if you're a HOF coach you don't go a decade without being competitive in a playoff game, there's no defending that pathetic streak.I think some of you are just struggling having to find who to be angry at now that Tomlin is gone. Someone has to the whipping boy in this franchise unless we are winning the Lombardi. Rodgers not being here for the preseason stuff simply means the young guys get all the snaps. If he was here yinz would be bitchin he was taking all the snaps from the young guys. I am fine either way, he comes back or doesn't. I am one who thinks another year of seasoning for Howard and a first year of it for Allar would be good, but I am not going to lose my mind over it either way. I am simply looking forward to seeing a new scheme in place regardless of who is at QB.
New staff, we gotta give them time, but I don't want Aaron back though. Sink or swim for the young QBs, sometimes you gotta move back to move forward. Can't stay stuck at the same place forever when that place sucksI think some of you are just struggling having to find who to be angry at now that Tomlin is gone. Call Ben and see what he's doing. I know you have him on speed dial...But, but, but I've been told the Steelers know exactly what Rodgers is doing. Hopefully they're just doing this because Rodgers is being a little ***** and they might as well get something if he signs elsewhere when they really don't want him anymore.
Last I new he was happily retired, hanging out with his family.Call Ben and see what he's doing. I know you have him on speed dial...
The day they got the diagnosis on Ben's elbow should've been the day they started thinking about what's next, instead they decided to trade their #1 pick in the upcoming draft for a Safety that was being used wrong in Miami, that we brought in made the highest paid safety in the NFL then used him wrong. This isn't about Ayahuasca A-Ron.
All long-term Steeler fans know the team needs something like a HoF QB near prime to be successful. It was made obvious when the aging, but still highly productive Ben injured his elbow and came back to do good work without meeting normal Steeler fan expectations.
Ben was great, and the primary reason the Steelers had the position and confidence for 3 shots at the SB, and 2 wins.
The Steelers should have been preparing for post Ben since 2019, but here we are. 7 years later, with no clear path. Trubisky, Haskins and Fields were other teams' rejects that didn't work out. Wilson and Ayahuasca A-Ron were short term plugs.
We all know this. The frustration is the seeming lack of progress. At least now there is a clear plan: Howard and Allar battle in practice and one either starts or becomes the primary backup to Ayahuasca A-Ron. Keeping Rudy as more than third string makes even less sense than Rodgers return.
After this season, one of Howard or Allar gets the pole position going forward and/or the 2027 draft brings more opportunity at a R1 caliber QB.
I like the idea that McCarthy staff has the two young QBs to teach this spring, away from any distractions from Mr. Rodgers, and like SIL above, I can live with his return and hopes for a great season or with the young QBs bumbling and stumbling to 4-13 and a high pick.
You know you know more...Last I new he was happily retired, hanging out with his family.
LOL, if I had him on speed dial I wouldn't be slumming it with you people. You know you know more...
