Steelers place the right of first refusal tender on AA Ron.

I think Rodgers was fine as a team leader last year, but if he comes back we learn nothing about Howard or Allar. It also means they're probably drafting around 18-20 with this "deep" QB class coming up. Best case is the Steelers squeak into the playoffs and get blown out--sorry, until they do otherwise, it's hard to be more positive. Best case, well, there's options.

-Howard plays out of his mind and the Steelers win.
-Allar plays out of his mind and the Steelers win.
-Howard/Allar play well enough to show they can be a starter.
-Howard/Allar play poorly, giving the other a chance.
-Howard/Allar play poorly and we know the Steelers need to invest a first-round pick in a QB.
And he's a year older, in your 40's that's a huge deal, in your 20's a year older doesn't mean much. He's an all time great QB no doubt, but he's way past his prime, bringing him back just wastes another year of Cam, TJ, Ramsey, DK, etc. and we'll probably draft near 20 again.
I just don't get how they were ok telling some of their franchise great players that it was time to move on, but they're letting Rodgers hang out and do what he wants.

The Steelers look like that desperate drunk dude at a bar well past closing time scoping out all the ugliest girls left to see which one they will TRY to take home for the night.

Art got no game. Don’t let those buck teeth, that club foot, that tail or that minor stache phase ya Art…you got a chance with her…really

I think some of you are just struggling having to find who to be angry at now that Tomlin is gone. Someone has to the whipping boy in this franchise unless we are winning the Lombardi. Rodgers not being here for the preseason stuff simply means the young guys get all the snaps. If he was here yinz would be bitchin he was taking all the snaps from the young guys. I am fine either way, he comes back or doesn't. I am one who thinks another year of seasoning for Howard and a first year of it for Allar would be good, but I am not going to lose my mind over it either way. I am simply looking forward to seeing a new scheme in place regardless of who is at QB.

Personally speaking, I’m not angry

Disappointed that an owner can be so deaf, dumb and blind tho

He can’t even play pinball and is certainly no wizard

Another season of Rodgers would simply be my cue to spend my Sundays on a more worthwhile endeavor, the Rodgers Steelers are a meh product at best

No anger at all, that left years ago

Now it’s simply disappointing as an old never was clings with his white knuckles to mediocrity

To see them get played by a washed old man with 1 year of service in the franchise would be embarrassing, if I was still as invested as I was before Art began his reign of mediocrity. I am now accustomed to the stupidity

Now it’s just complacency, sadness and disappointments to see what a once proud franchise has fallen to

But sure, happy GHD…wait for the 🦕 Art
Great plan

10-7 and a scared AF old QB throwing the ball
on the ground to brace for turf contact will surely get it done this time

This franchise needs leadership with a vision beyond the bottom line $$$

Paging Dr Dan, this franchise needs 20cc of fresh ideas…stat

Tomlin sucked, but he's gone it has nothing to do with him. No someone doesn't have to be a whipping boy if you're not winning it all, but if you're a HOF coach you don't go a decade without being competitive in a playoff game, there's no defending that pathetic streak.

As for now, EVERY other QB in the NFL showed up to their teams, that's called being a team leader, that's called wanting to get better, wanting to be as prepared and help get the offense/team as prepared as possible for the upcoming season. We got embarrassed at home, Rodgers was embarrassed, he should WANT to be here if he's going to play, but nah, who cares let Aaron be Aaron and hang out and be on the MacAfee show. That's where the anger is at, it has zero to do with someone needing to be a whipping boy. Just because some are actually pissed at the way Rodgers is being a little b!tch, doesn't mean we aren't looking forward to a new scheme, both can be true.

New staff, we gotta give them time, but I don't want Aaron back though. Sink or swim for the young QBs, sometimes you gotta move back to move forward. Can't stay stuck at the same place forever when that place sucks

I disagree with a portion of this as they are installing a whole new system.

NOT last year’s system that Aaa-Ron is familiar with. NOT the old GB system of long long ago.

The coaching is talking and showing they want everyone on the same page, MM even talked about that.

Aaa-Ron isn’t so Godly that he doesn’t need that time there to adjust, yet alone for the teammates to adjust to him as well.

A 42 / 43 yr old QB (finished about 20th in the league) essentially holding things up and the Franchise allowing it.

DK Sports Daily Shot has some good insight on what the team thinks of the Rodgers delay.

Good listen

But, but, but I've been told the Steelers know exactly what Rodgers is doing. Hopefully they're just doing this because Rodgers is being a little ***** and they might as well get something if he signs elsewhere when they really don't want him anymore.
Call Ben and see what he's doing. I know you have him on speed dial...

This isn't about Ayahuasca A-Ron.

All long-term Steeler fans know the team needs something like a HoF QB near prime to be successful. It was made obvious when the aging, but still highly productive Ben injured his elbow and came back to do good work without meeting normal Steeler fan expectations.

Ben was great, and the primary reason the Steelers had the position and confidence for 3 shots at the SB, and 2 wins.

The Steelers should have been preparing for post Ben since 2019, but here we are. 7 years later, with no clear path. Trubisky, Haskins and Fields were other teams' rejects that didn't work out. Wilson and Ayahuasca A-Ron were short term plugs.

We all know this. The frustration is the seeming lack of progress. At least now there is a clear plan: Howard and Allar battle in practice and one either starts or becomes the primary backup to Ayahuasca A-Ron. Keeping Rudy as more than third string makes even less sense than Rodgers return.

After this season, one of Howard or Allar gets the pole position going forward and/or the 2027 draft brings more opportunity at a R1 caliber QB.

I like the idea that McCarthy staff has the two young QBs to teach this spring, away from any distractions from Mr. Rodgers, and like SIL above, I can live with his return and hopes for a great season or with the young QBs bumbling and stumbling to 4-13 and a high pick.
